Match Liverpool (A) EFL Carabao Cup Second Leg. 6/2 8PM (SKY & ITV) *We're up 1-0*.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Waking up in the middle of the night for me to watch this game was like a really bad dream, now thinking back. Perhaps I didn't really wish to face it in the first place, knowing deep down we don't really stand a chance to go to the final. Honestly I also wasn't really putting much attention into watching like I have been for past few months knowing how poor we really are in most times, in the hope that the final whistle could come earlier when we were in the lead without focusing to watch.

Another match gone, very shallow in my memory, and sad it has been the case for quite some time..
you'll be ok. This is not unusual. What is unusual is why someone unqualified at the required level to take control of a talented group of players (including maybe some of the coaching staff) happened in the first place. These players he has are like a rolls royce compared to others who he has had previous. We have some really good players..Spence, Van der Ven, Maddison, Porro and loads of other seasoned pro's. This manager doesn't seem to know what to do with them? Could be cynical and say on 5M GBP he is just biding his time and the tin tack isn't that bad, but who knows. It ain't gonna happen. Had a bad feeling from the start but the club will move on, hopefully before they blow the Europa as well. ... but...business:dude:

Am I remembering wrong; thinking that Rich pulled out at the begining of the 2nd half?

Reg and Porro? Who would you have taken off for those two? Also how many subs were we allowed, you know that if sent all his subs on at half time someone would have got injured and we would have been to 10 men with no subs left

I didn't list them all to say put them ALL on at HT; just that some alternative configuration may have kept us in the game longer.... Long enough to scrape an undeserved equaliser the longer things went on.

I'd accepted at kick off that we weren't going to match their threat.

I agree about Berg, he should have come on at half time for Bissouma or Bentancur. Still it's all in hindsight and as I said none of it would have made a difference at the end. Liverpool were always winning this tie over two legs.

I'm not professing to know the specific solution; but I will stand by:

1. Berg should have come on at HT.
2. Putting Spence in front of Porro was crap.
3. It's not a foregone conclusion that nothing would have made a difference.

Had a seat a few rows from the front last night so saw the first half up close. The performance was ok up until we conceded, I can't believe how we consistently fail to complete 5 yrd passes.
It is quite staggering the number of errors strewn throughout the side, international players making basic and lazy mistakes consistently, neglecting their duties and shirking responsibility.
They claim an affinity with the fans yet will not go further than they want to. It is hugely telling that only the youngsters seemed committed in every game which is shameful.
I find myself in agreement with spitty Carragher who asked, 'when do Spurs ever turn up in a big game?'
I have no connection now with my team now, we go to Villa in my most beloved F A Cup with a collection of journeymen who, if we lose, will just shrug and move on.
We deserve better.

Tel was already on, Reg and Porro? Who would you have taken off for those two? Also how many subs were we allowed, you know that if sent all his subs on at half time someone would have got injured and we would have been to 10 men with no subs left

I Think whats pissing most people off is the gutless effort. Not the fact we lost to a superior team. Its was quite frankly pathetic

The problem has always been that our backups aren't good enough. It kills us every year whether it be an injury crisis or losing 2 or 3 key players from first team.

This year its catastrophic and we end up suffering the consequences fully.

We don't win things because our squad players do not fulfill the need.

I think it's disingenuous to complain about performance when this isn't a new phenomenon. It's not like these players have just had a rare "off" day.

So do you disagree that the squad is not good enough?
People are sick to death of injury excuses. Amazingly since Ange has arrived we've had 2 unprecedented injury crisis. I dont care if we had an u18 team out. The minimum fans ask is effort and application. Once again there was none apart from a few kids.
WHo put in a crunching tackle when 1 down to stem the flow, put them off their game. Who drove players on to stem the tide.
Insipid

Exactly, we didn't even get a single yellow card. It was a cowardly performance.

I think that's a big part of the problem. Squad is full of chancers that don't have the mentality which is a natural byproduct of us not going for the very best.

I.e. driven ambitious individuals that know their worth and demand success

The problem has always been that our backups aren't good enough. It kills us every year whether it be an injury crisis or losing 2 or 3 key players from first team.

Listen to yourself... Losing 2 or 3 key (key!) players. All clubs feel that degree of a pinch... Even the once fabled Man City billion dollar bench can't handle losing 1 player (Rodri) anymore.

......And even that is underplaying our situation given we've missed half our damn squad for months on end!

.....Nor do the question marks (both last night and generally) surrounding our manager magically not exist.

So do you disagree that the squad is not good enough?

Good enough for what specifically?

...With less injury problems (and no twatty 7 match ban for Bentancur adding to our problems)?

Better than 16th... Abso-fucking-lutely.
Capable of more than what we saw last night.... Abso-fucking-lutely.

I absolutely concur to the accumulative effects of fatigue that are now dragging these players down at this point and that matching Liverpool toe-to-toe was too much of an ask last night.

....So yeh, maybe my critique is harsh given the fatigue-factor; but "our bench should be better" is piss poor analysis.

Part of the managers job is to develop a mentality within the squad, something Ange has completely failed at. He has created a team that is easily bullied and doesn't know how to respond to adversity because he insists there is only one way to play football.

They’re not effectively coached.

The mistakes come from confusion and lack of understanding. The players are continuously rotated and placed in different positions.

It’s nonsense.

And yes, some have hidden too. But it’s symptomatic of the all consuming lack of direction.

Feel even more angry this morning

That pathetic showing last night sums up the total lack of fight in this club.

Non league sides in the FA cup put up more fight, pride and will to win than our team did last night. They just rolled over and accepted their fate.

Spence and Danso are the only ones who can hold their heads up this morning.

Son, Kulu, Bentancur, Bissouma - absolutely terrible showing.

But they'll wake up in their mansions this morning, maybe feel a bit bad and then forget all about it.
We've got the weather we deserve this morning...

Grey, Cold, Wet...

The type of weather that makes you question if there's anything good left out there??

Piss poor analysis that is ultimately correct.

Our squad should be better.

Good enough to have a fighting chance of beating Liverpool and competing for a carabao cup this year and in previous years.

You've been wrong for so long. I remember you referring to how bissouma was a better deal than Rice.

You deflect deflect deflect picking up on technicalities to deviate away from just accepting that the owners have systematically neglected the football club element of their multi billion pound corporation.

We literally beat them in the first leg to GIVE us a fighting chance last night!

Regardless; perhaps the gap wouldn't appear so fucking severe if it wasn't decimated, Einstiein.

No..... You're mis-remembering/mis-representing..... I mocked them paying 100m for him whilst at the time our MF or Biss, Bent & Sarr were performing at just as high a level (which they were).

Nah.

If you think our squad is only good enough for 16th and that missing half a squad for months through injury is a mere "technicality" then lets just stop wasting each others time.
