Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If you're 32 and cover more ground than any other forward in the world, and every youngster around you are falling, and you're still standing, and you're still the clubs top performer in terms of goals and assists, then you're fucking captain material. Without Son we would be in the relegation zone now. It shows really how poorly the club is doing under the Australian leadership of Munn.

Unless we use him as a super sub against tired legs, he should be moved on in the summer. He has been a wonderful servent for the club and I love him but it is time to let go. We have young players coming through and need to continue to rebuild. Al our young wingers are best on the left, we have solomon too doing well on loan best on the left.

He's the only reason the team is still sticking together and pushing through this period of madness and crisis with injuries caused by Ange.

Do you really believe that any of those players give a fuck about Ange? Do you think they have any respect for him? An overweight Aussie smoker with a chronic cough that has was not at a high level himself as a footballer, never won anything of value, and is ruining their careers, their primes, and any kind of dignity with this kind of clown football he's playing.

If those young kids in the team for any reason don't respect Son, then they are the problem. Because then they imagine that they are better than they really are. Those kids that we have will never challenge Woolwich, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle...

Don't kid yourself. Son at this stage in his career is still better than any other player in the team. He's still faster than them. He's still a better passer than them, he's still mentally just as sharp, and if not 100% he's at least 80=90% when not being ran into the ground by Ange.

Remember, no other forward in the world, including all the top leagues, has covered and pressed as much as Son. UNBELIEVABLE STAT.

ALL THE YOUNG KIDS ARE FOLDING UNDER ANGE. Everyone has folded except for Son and Kulu. But Kulu has been even worse than Son during the past two months.

Son has still outperformed him in terms of goals and assists.

Son: 6 goals 8 assists.

Kulu: 6 goals and 4 assists.

And Son played almost 400 minutes less. And he's having maybe 20% of the possession of Kulu. Still much more efficient.
But caveat that with kulu has created the most open play chances of any player in the prem, even more than palmer......so we clearly arent finishing those chances.

Sorry who said that?

Our tactics and system are the obvious main issues but we also cant have a captain that goes into hiding which Son regularly does.
Remember when we played City in the quarter final 2019. City was the best league in the world then. That was the real final, not Liverpool. It was Son who stepped up. He won that quarter for us. That's who he is and he's proven it at this club. And if you're a winner like that, you'll always be. So to say that he's hiding is utter nonsense. Hiding is a mindset and Son is not the player to hide. If he's non-influential in our game, it's because that's how the team plays. They ALWAYS play through Kulu. Son can do nothing about it as long as that is how Ange instructs them to play.

And for hiding. If someone actually stepped up yesterday it was Son. The score was 3-1 on aggregate and out of nowhere with multiple defenders on him, he fucking stepped up and so nearly scored the most beautiful goal you can imagine. The kind of goal we know that nobody else in the squad can score. It was more than Salah did yesterday, but he plays for a good team with a smart manager.

If Salah had so nearly scored that same kind of goal as Son, everyone would be talking about it and sharing the clip on X. But those negative fucks here who're shitting on a great and can't appreciate the true skill of this legend can't do anything but hate.

Thankfully there's so many stats out there destroying your credibility. No matter how shit you say he is, he's still our main contributor. And in the end of the day, that's what really matters.

If you then adjust for involvement in the actual play, and think how much influence and opportunity slow Kulu is given, the fact that Son still outperforms him is even more staggering.

So yea, get rid of our most efficient attacker. Solanke, BJ, Odo, Kulu, Tel etc are so much better than Sonny.

How come old man Salah and his hair replacement therapy isn't dead on his feet? I'm sure he's playing more football than Son this season and he's playing CL football instead of EL.

Whatever Salah does differently why haven't we figured that out for Son to do?

Unfortunately his overall performance was absolute dogshite. Like 75% of his matches these days.
So you have to question yourself why that is. What this clip shows is that Son can still do things out of this world. The problem is therefore not that he lost the touch, the ability to beat his man, or a yard for that matter. He executed it at the very highest level.

Really, you should ask yourself why he's getting into so few opportunities to actually perform those actions. Because if he still can do it, which he proved, then we also want to see as much of it as possible.

I think we can both agree that for Son to do that, he needs someone to get him the ball in those positions. Why can't the team do that? That is always the teams fault and never the players. Blaming Son for the teams inability to get him in positions is just as thoughtless as it gets.

But caveat that with kulu has created the most open play chances of any player in the prem, even more than palmer......so we clearly arent finishing those chances.
Yet, his xA is only 3.8 against Son's 3.9 so the quality of the chances he create must be of much lower quality. And that is with Son playing almost 400 minutes less.

Again, with much less possession and game involvement, Son manages to create more xA than Kulu. Imagine if Son was given as much time on the ball and in those positions. With a fraction of the opportunity, he still outperforms Deki.

The one thing that really disappointed me about Sonny on thurs is that Conor Bradley smashed him early doors and Son didn't even react, he just shriveled back into his shell, not up for the fight, just let himself be rattled by some kid.

it was horrible to see.

I don’t think we can make a sound judgement on Sonny’s future based on this campaign.

His minutes need managing, and he’s been run into the ground this season as have most of the squad.

60 minutes in important games or impact sub off the bench, I think he’s still got the class to be an important player for us going forward.

Told you this months ago mate. Tactical periodisation. A co-ordinated press that is coached and triggered correctly. It's game management. Its pressing in the correct thirds of the pitch.Slots Liverpool are what an actual modern pressing side looks like in 2025. The heedless we never stop maniacal charge about is a rehash of Klopp 1.0 which even he had moved away from. It's One of the things I argued most with folks about because this attrional model injured players even back then, and people would say "but but but other teams press" It ain't wot ya do it's the way that ya do it.! As the fun boy three so wisely cautioned.
