It was also disgusting that a team that was top of the 2nd division and promoted the year before won the league when we were champions the year before in 1961. They are not head & shoulders above us. Last time we played them on 3rd November 2024 4-1 to us.
Last time I looked they were in the last 16 of the Champions League and 10 points ahead of us in the Premier League but you keep looking at one game to define who is better. If we used your metrics both Ipswich and Leicester are better than us.

That is not Head & Shoulders above us. I doubt MU who are down with us consider Villa head & Shoulders above them either.
Last season we finished 16 points above Chelsea but to describe us as Head & Shoulders above them at that time is as exaggerating as your comment.

Trajectory... they are building, showing ambition and we are collapsing and showing whatever the opposite of ambition is. For me, that's enough to say they are head and shoulders clear of us even if we do somehow beat them Sunday.

We are building as well. Look at all the young players on loan many of whom came to us because of Ange's reputation of giving young players a chance. We have brought in 3 players in the transfer window that should improve the side. I feel I am arguing with a Gooner. This is the ENIC/.Levy thread and there are plenty of reasons to criticise them for but exaggerating a rival over us is not one of them.

Our transfer policy fails because it is not empirically coherent.

- strengthen when in a position of strength.
- have a clear football philosophy independent of the manager you recruit for, see Liverpool, Brighton etc.
- buy a balanced team that has a mixture of youth, experience and leadership.

We have not done this. There is nothing wrong with a youth project but last summer we were 3-4 players short in key roles, LB, LCB, RW and GK backup, you could argue DM and ST as well but we at least had players there even if not good enough and when an injury crisis hits which is almost inevitable with 4 competitions and the high intensity way we play there isn’t the juice to cover it.

As for Woolwich they have shown great ambition in the market with the likes of Rice. In the summer they will probably be get 2-3 elite players to try and actually win a trophy. Think they have fucked up a bit not getting someone at least on loan to cover the forward line but right now they are shopping in Waitrose and we are shopping in Tescos. Our revenue is similar to Arse and Liverpool so if we have ambition there should be no reason we aren’t at their level and as we are not we should be looking to get there in at least 2-3 seasons. We aren’t punching our weight for our current size.

So you think we are better than Villa. Please explain... I can't wait to hear this.

It's called a debate... I think Villa have better owners, better coaching, better recruitment, better planning and thus way out ahead of us... you don't... we'll leave it there.
Villa have all those things IMHO - How else have they pulled ahead of us in the league with less than 40% of our revenue - In the 22/23 season, we had £550M vs £218M for Villa.

ENIC’s motto should be”Accomplishing Less with More” - At least on the football pitch - we’re no doubt top of the league table in real estate development,

Match day , no sense of optimism or joy , just another day 25 years in to the failed ENIC project . No doubt the 300 Spartans who defend them so heroically despite all the evidence are oiling themselves up ready for battle .

some suggest that if we lose the manager will be sacked
if thats what happens what has Levy seen that made him think the manager was on the right track ?
we have had 18 months yes the first 10 games But the rest has been fairly poor
