I don't think people realise how stacked that league is in Celtic's favour. It is an amazement if Rangers even win again soon. And outside those two, what is even the point of being a supporter. What is even the point of being a Celtic supporter? They will win next year and it will feel meaningless...like it does every year. There is no hope, there is nothing to look forward to. I would rather be an Aberdeen supporter because at least the hope of winning will feel better. Dying club in a dying league.

Ange belongs there...

How is that any different to La Liga or the Bundesliga..how many teams can realistically win the EPL?

no a lot of us just don't like our manager shitting on the club. what's your reasoning for wanting him to?

i'm sensing a tone of false equivalency with what i said and the ange-inners. as if not wanting the coach disrespecting the club daily is somehow not supporting the shirt or putting my desire to be right ahead of the club when nothing could be further from the truth. i want us to win. i want the players to win and be successful and happy here. where i'm at is pretty recent with ange more openly taking the piss every chance he gets lately. i still want us to win in the league but i simply don't want to endure the absurdity of this asshole winning a trophy and holding it over us at this point which he no doubt would do. perhaps if it were the fa cup or champions league it would be different but not for a bs europa cup. but, if lots of you disagree and are happy with that scenario, i'll be happy for you but i will personally have a nasty taste in my mouth from it.

Mental gymnastics

I just hope that once we win EL, his ego and hate for us will explode so much that he will not celebrate with the team, but will go straight to the locker room instead.

Dont want him to pollute celebration pictures with his presence :D

Get this cup as some sort of consolation prize mate, and then get out of our club.

I have some connections to scotland and have watched Hibs a few times live. My brother in law is also celtic too. Hibs would be considered one of the big 5 clubs up there and I think their actual standard is league 1 level. there are 10 or so teams even worse than them in the SPL. this is stating the bleeding obvious, but of course gung ho angeball worked up there. it's like shooting fish in a barrel

It's extremely concerning if winning the cup will mean Ange keeps his job.

Romano is saying that winning it will mean he may well stay.

It would be incompetence of the highest order if we keep Ange for next season regardless of the cup. We will seriously get relegated.

JUst because we might win a few knock out games, it doesn't mean a league campaign will be any better next season under Ange.

It will probably be worse.

Unfortunately with the utter morons running our club, I could see it happening.

Look at what Arteta has done at Woolwich. That shows the power of what a manager can do if you appoint the right one. Their squad isn't even all that, but they are coached to perfection.

I wouldn't worry about it. We couldn't win a double-sided coin toss.

Firstly come on let's be serious, if we win the cup then our first concern won't and shouldn't be Ange, despite how's he's done this season. He'd probably end up being sacked after a few months anyway if he has a bad start but nonetheless we'd have a long awaited trophy in the bag and CL football as a comfort blanket, I can think of worse things.

Secondly can everyone stop saying that we're going to get relegated ffs, it's just not going to happen, we are far too big and have far richer finances than the majority of other teams in this league, the chasm between the Championship and the Prem is a big as it is...if this club was anywhere near relegation trouble then the board would act, it's as simple as that.

If we have to sack him next season because he's going to get us relegated that's my point. Yeah I think we'd all take winning the cup over anything right now, but I can't face another wasted season, with him getting sacked in November.

I just want him gone.

The only hope for the Auld Firm would be to join the English leagues and work themselves up to the PL. Celtic have massive crowds. Their TV auds in Anglophone world and Ireland would be massive. Not so good for their away fans as theyd be limited to 3,000 whereas when they turn up in their thousands at Queens Park etc they can all get in.
And I can't see them being able to move down here so in terms of CL etc they'll always be an irrelevance

He's not going to get us relegated though, even if he stays on, that's just a hugely unrealistic scenario :p

I honestly think that even in the unlikely event of us winning the EL then he'll still be booted. Even LEvy can see the shitshow tht United are in bevause they didnt pull the trigger on the manager who delivered them the flukiest FA cup win of all time.

Maybe this isn’t the place but I have a theory about scottish football not producing good players anymore. I used to live next to this park in edinburgh called the meadows: full of hippy students smoking pot and drum circles. I talked to some old timers and they said it used to be full of football pitches a bit like hackney marshes and teams would wait their turn on the sidelines. Scot’s just don’t play football much anymore. Too busy drinking and taking drugs to be up on a sunday morning. That was my crowd

you should have come up and introduced yourself

I think there's also the dietary aspect to their "health". If you look at most PL footballers today I'm sure 99% are superfit. Kane FFS had his won chef to make him meals every day. Scots generally drink for too much alcohol and arent known for healthy balanced diets. By the time they get to their teens is often too late to change their habits. Top football is very fine margins.
For a football mad nation they have very few players in the PL. In the 1970's almost every top team Div 1 had a few.

I only played sunday league in england for 1 year. I know spain the best and my local village has a top pitch and loads of teams from all ages. Scotland couldn’t be further from that. I played left wing back for them but I was a hard bastard and got a lot of cards. My uncle was a pro footballer who played for blackpool and norwich and youth for man utd until injuries ruined his career. He always said find out your opponent. So right winger in my case. And lay into them hard in the first 10 mins. It will mess them up

interesting

my son was in France for a year while a stoodent. Toulouse. Very big rugby area and the Union ground was a lot bigger than the pro footie one. Anyway.
He said there were loads of astro pitches in town. Kids would just turn up and play, he'd never seen anything like their level of skill and ball control when playing in Engladn. I won't be confident of us ever beating France again unless they get someone like Ange in

Our under 21's beat them 4-0 not that long ago, and the last game our under 21's played against them we were the better side with much more of the player but a bad goalkeeper. And judging by the last senior meeting, there isn't much of a gap there either.

Bit like us tho. A c,lose scoreline but I got the idea that whenever the French neded to score they just would.

I feel like that's just England PTSD though. Ultimately they scored because Giroud is a big bastard and Maguire is a bit rubbish, and they won because Harry Kane somehow missed a penalty.

The gap really isn't big. They are better, but they don't have some intrinsic technical advantage at the top level, mainly I would actually say their big thing currently is a lot of very physically impressive players.

Spain is a bit different. I don't feel individually they are any better than us, but collectively and their game maturity/football IQ just always makes playing them feel like an inevitable grind.
