To win the Europa League, a likely path is that we have to beat Frankfurt in the quarter finals over two legs, Lazio in the semi finals over two legs and Bilbao in the final in Bilbao. Even I, who can't stand Ange, would probably change my tune about him if we manage to pull that off, because that is not an easy route by any means.

The obvious problem is, I can't see us pull that off. Would be surprised if we even got past Frankfurt. I don’t think they are that great but we just struggled to beat AZ, the team sixth in Eredivisie. Frankfurt is a massive step up from that.

I feel like that's just England PTSD though. Ultimately they scored because Giroud is a big bastard and Maguire is a bit rubbish, and they won because Harry Kane somehow missed a penalty.

The gap really isn't big. They are better, but they don't have some intrinsic technical advantage at the top level, mainly I would actually say their big thing currently is a lot of very physically impressive players.

Spain is a bit different. I don't feel individually they are any better than us, but collectively and their game maturity/football IQ just always makes playing them feel like an inevitable grind.

They figured out how to deal with a hard bastard left back. Pass around him

interesting

my son was in France for a year while a stoodent. Toulouse. Very big rugby area and the Union ground was a lot bigger than the pro footie one. Anyway.
He said there were loads of astro pitches in town. Kids would just turn up and play, he'd never seen anything like their level of skill and ball control when playing in Engladn. I won't be confident of us ever beating France again unless they get someone like Ange in
The easy access to "streetball" courts is apparently a decent part of France's success as a talent factory.

The gooner twat Freddie Ljungberg talked about it on TV before one of the Liverpool and PSG games. When he was a scout for the gooners he was often sent over to Paris to scout at streetball courts rather than at actual games.

How is that any different to La Liga or the Bundesliga..how many teams can realistically win the EPL?

Well last 10 years and number of different winners.
Premier league still the most competitive.
Bundesliga is done as a real competition.
Scotland obviously affected by rangers being demoted.

Premier league = 4 City x 6
La liga. = 3 Barca x 5
Bundesliga = 2. Munich x 9
Scotland = 2. Celtic x 9

City won’t win it this year. Maybe won’t even get top 4.
Others probably will win again. Madrid might catch Barca. But currently Barca are leading that league.

Since 2000
Premier league = 6
La liga = 4
Bundesliga = 6
Scotland = 2

Worrying trend for the Bundesliga.

Okay so it was Glasner. I was told there was another international coach other than Silva and Iraola Frank.

The interesting bit in this article is that Glasner is hesitant about going to Leipzig because of fears of interference from Klopp. Apparently Levy is less meddling than Red Bull.

People can hate him but FMD to say they don't want to see us win a trophy because he'd rub it in our faces....there are many fans who have never seen us win a trophy in their lives....
You always want a trophy. Even if it meant Postecoglou coming back I'd still want the trophy. With the toxic atmosphere around him, a big part of which he generates, I don't think he would last out the full season next year anyway.

He’s right about that.

There’s always a negative with this club.

No matter what happens, there’s an obsession with finding a disruptive twist on it.

interesting Johnson saying he wants really win the Europa league for the group of players and the staff, when directly asked about responding with a europa win to Woolwich fans chants against real madrid.
tbf I probably wouldn't care much for the spurs fans either I was him
