So on paper it looks even more like Levy stepping back. But the question is of course how much that actually entails.

But his CV does look good to give him credit. 14 or so years at them lot and helped rebuild and re-organise them after long coat retired.

I remember the story about Levy having deep discussions about the best types of bulbs to use in the new stadium lifts.

It was meant to be a story showing how he's all about attention to detail. I interpreted it as typical micromanaging.

He also forced Jol to play Berbatov in a cup game v Chelsea. He can't help but stick his deluded oar in.

I have a childhood best friend who holds a similar role for a top flight hockey club in Sweden. He happens to be a fan of his employers most fierce rival but to quote him "that has to stay at home if I want to make a living in the sport".

This is all very logical, totally.

But the North London rivalry hatred is levels above almost anything in the world outside maybe Boca/River Plate, Fla/Flu and Glasgow.

I appreciate that Boardrooms rarely think like us.

I used to work at a major sporting league in the states. We would talk to people and share marketing best practices with other leagues/clubs. I met the guy who, at the time, ran digital and social for Woolwich. I told him I was a Spurs supporter so I couldn't talk to him. He laughed and said "I'm a Palace supporter, this is just where i got a job".

When you work in sports, sports become your job.

I remember the PLM at Everton was a Red. And he’d started supporting EFC. When he was due to retire he said he’d prob get his old ST at LFC back. An ops MGR guy at Spurs was QPR. The PLM is Norwich
A Director at West Brom was Villa and started out at Brum City. One of his direct reports was Villa too.
Happens all the time, they don’t care, a jobs a job

Normally CEO's run the business and Chairmen are more of a Figurehead but are not involved in the day to day decisions. Whether Levy will keep his nose out of operational matters is debateable. He said he was stepping back from Football matters a couple of years ago but only in January was reported to have gone to Germany to get Tel. Either way he should not command such as high income if no longer CEO but it will be 2 years before we see the accounts that will show that.

I give this bloke 2 years here max. He'll just be like all the others and get fed up with Levy and the rest of the board of yes men and women he has surrounded himself with.
