Always thought he was a wanker. He turned in great shifts for QPR with their space age medical staff and 5 star training ground FFS. The truth is he couldn't be arsed. The way Klinsmann behaved while he was at the club really showed Ferdinand up.![]()

Les Ferdinand regretted his Tottenham move on day one
Ferdinand spoke about his move to Tottenham and how he felt on his first day at Spurs.
The striker joined Spurs for £6m from Newcastle back in 1997, and, he says that on day one he’d thought he’d made a mistake joining Tottenham due to how unprofessional the club seemed.
“What were you thinking day one there?” Ferdinand was asked.
“When I went to Spurs? I’ve probably made a mistake. Have I made a mistake? Because it was just, just wasn’t professional enough,” Les Ferdinand said.
“Everything about it wasn’t professional enough and I picked up quite a few injuries while I was at Spurs, but the training ground, everything that they had done, it just wasn’t at the level that I would have expected for Tottenham Hotspur.
“And I often say we was sponsored by Pony at the time and that was probably apt. It probably was because it was like, I just felt that so much more could have been done with what Tottenham were doing at the time.
“And in my first five years, I had four different managers and a change of board. So that kind of tells you how unsettled the football club was.”
He's not being a prick.
He's not being a prick.
He's being honest.
Signing Ferdinand at that point was when Sugar was completely losing the plot.
Gerry Francis had wanted Ferdinand when Klinsmann left. He'd managed him at QPR but Sugar refused to pay 6 million for him at 28. Spurs bought Armstrong for 4.5 million instead.
Two years later Sugar sells Sheringham to United for 3.5 million and brings in Ferdinand for the same 6 million fee but Ferdinand is now 30. Toon got the best version of Les for two seasons and got their money back.
Ferdinand must have found the whole thing questionable but he is a London boy.
Why so?
Is it the Blue Peter garden that upset you?Because pr!ck spells that word, albeit with the use of the exclamation mark.
It's just that back then, the internet was still in its infancy ..If people want to pretend we were not another complete mess at the time he references they are lying to themselves. We were as big a joke as we are now...more so.
