I’ve seen highlights from last season, he was very strong in a mens league. We’ve paid the 40m more for the potential and because others were interested. It seems a crazy amount of money but it exactly the sort of thing many would criticise had we not done it, ie Grealish etc.

Also the lack of proper depth means we have not many options when we are rotating. Spence played LB. Udogie and Porro rested. Micky rested so Davies played LCB. Danso and Dragusin injured.

Mate; we played a midfield player at right back, a left back as a centre back and a right back as a left back today.

If that doesn't tell Levy sacking this idiot is his only option nothing will.

That is what I am seeing.

I’m not saying he’s worth 40m.

But this is the way football works - you tend to pay more than the going rate to get a player that either a club don’t want to lose or is in demand.

I reckon Levy wants the little brother and sees signing Archie as the best way to get the more talented player in a hostage situation.

but what are you expecting him to do at FB and CB? hes clearly a natural midfielder. hes not going to start burning people up at FB like walker. hes kept it neat and tidy which is all you want as hes filling in. he already looks well ahead of bentancur and bissouma on the ball. once he gets tuned into CM youll see what hes all about.

Nothing I’ve seen here or at Leeds has me convinced he’s anything other than basic. Quite one paced and more often than not just plays the easiest and obvious pass even if its into trouble.

I don’t see the great potential or raw attributes to grow into. Looks like a kid from the academy who you wouldn’t be convinced will make it.

not sure I’m seeing a midfielder either.
