On the Far East run we were on we once ended up in Kuwait in July!
I was an engineer so was sweating my bollocks off in the engine room but visiting places like Aus, Japan, Taiwan, South Africa and Nauru was fun and yes, in 1980, we were well paid!
I was in the navy for a couple a days in 1981. We sailed to Hook of Holland and back. Loved it.
I also joined the Croatian navy a few years back, just for the day. Sailed from Zadar to some tiny Croatian island. Loved that too.
