Tbf the full quote started with him saying he wasn’t talking about himself but the narrative around the club is always set up to fail.

And that’s a stone cold fact.

It’s so ingrained into the conversation around the club that it’s become a culture and probably even an unconscious one half the time.

But even by mentioning it he is pushing it.

That narrative won’t change all while Enic own us…..unless that’s what he really means?

True and that's fair.

I think we're a comfort zone. Probably the most comfortable of all zones. The facilities are definitely world class and the wages are decent, but the expectations are essentially 'try your best'.

And now we have a manager, who according to Djed Spence, allows them to fail on the pitch without criticism because if they do it’s because he’s asked them to play in a certain way (that doesn’t work) so it’s on him. Then we wonder why the players don’t really look bothered!

Get Poch back in, get them walking on hot coals in training with an arrow at their throats and toughen them up. The only time any of what you say didn’t seem true was when he was here. Let him try and turn this lot into warriors, get rid of those who won’t, and get them facing some responsibility like men.

I’ll be honest, it does lose weight to mention it when you aren’t winning but I’ll take it that at least one Spurs manager is bringing it into the open.

Makes it easier for future coaches to speak about it now that it’s been said.

And Ange is now guilty of it. You can see that culture of this club reflected in the shift in his comments since arriving.

He came here season 1 saying he didn’t want to put a ceiling on our ambitions when asked about top 4 and that his goal wasn’t just top 4.

Now he’s talking about 5th last season shouldn’t be seen as failure…

I’m 100% behind any Spurs manager talking about the narrative around this club being set up for a fall but you can’t then talk about not winning things being a success because you finished 5th.

Levy clearly didn’t think 5th was failure last year and that’s the problem with this club internally

He's right but saying it now just sounds like excuses, ain't no-one trying to hear that when you've lost 18 matches this season because you're essentially part of the problem.

Everyone gets brow beaten down by Levy and his lack of ambition eventually so I can’t blame Ange for that.

He’s adding to that narrative being literally the 4th easiest team in the division to play against and losing over 20 matches in a season.
We bring this shit on ourselves as a club and until we break that narrative it will always be there.

Interesting how many comments are manoeuvring the ‘problem’ from Ange to Levy to ‘the narrative’.

The real narrative is that we’ve had a shocking season, largely because of Ange. He’s spent a lot of money (well or badly doesn’t matter, that’s a truth); he’s had much longer than anyone would expect (whether that’s Levy, he’s waiting for a third season or the Europa or whatever); there HAVEa been a lot of injuries (a lot of evidence that this might be down to Ange, or might not)….BUT the real issue right now is that we’re way down the table, can’t win a league game for love nor money, are horrifically open to counter attacks all day long and he’s not changing the instructions to players.

The narrative around our club changes depending on the success we have. Right now, we’re awful - that’s not about being ‘spursy’ or some nonsense, that’s about Ange mismanaging the in-game tactics and not being sacked when he should have been. We can argue the rest of the narrative once the team are performing like they did when Conte chucked his toys out of the pram, or Jose was sacked just before a final or Poch after the semi year.

right now, the bit of the problem that needs to be dealt with is Ange. The invisible narrative can be dealt with later.

The narrative isn't shifting until we win, it's as simple as that. It didn't shift when Poch had us in our prime and won't do until we lift a trophy.

It’s hard to take someone who’s lost nearly 20 league games this season seriously when he’s talking about how everyone else creates a loser/failure mentality for us.

There's an ant crawling across my kitchen floor (actual photo). I've named him Ant Postecoglou. Should I...

a. Tread on him now

b. Give him another season

c. Wait a few weeks and see if we end up with a trophy - then make a decision?

It's about long term vision and building a successful team.

The other team cannot score if you have the ball.

Spurs have been repeatedly let down by individual errors, and inexperienced players have been exposed.

The quality of the squad is poor.

Ange's ship has sailed. We look set to lose Bentencuar, Romero and Porro in the summer; and Barca's scouts are watching Bergvall. City want Madison and Kulu is wanted in Italy. Dragusin has wanted out for quite some time, and Sarr is admired in Spain.

How do expect the next coach to perform?

Season after season we have a squad that doesn't match fans expectations....and every time we call for the head of the coach.
Still totally mental. Fair play 👏
