Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So 140m transfer budget... Get In!!!
If I remember correctly, them past few windows our net spend was like 100-150 mil. So what I was saying is, you get the money from players you've sold eg 140 mil for Porro & Mads, you add your usual 100-150 mil on top and you suddenly got a right war chest that, if spent well, could fix a lot of issues and build a proper squad able to genuinely compete next season.

What worries me, though, aside that we don't know how to spend and always leave 1 or 2 holes unplugged...is that Levy's already said our summer will be frugal. And there's been several articles since saying Spurs will have a sell to buy kinda window.

Also the possibility that even if we were offered big money for the likes of Romero, Porro, Bentancur, Mads etc...he'd play his usual hardball and them interested clubs would lose patience and fuck us off.

Mate let’s stop over hyping berg just yet. Let the kid develop. MADDs is our best player and the numbers back it up. Without him we have no one who really beat a player in tight positions or create space for themselves.

In another thread you said you wanted Donley and Devine can take Kulu's spot next season??

Bergvall has done more than them in a Sours shirt.

I don't think you read Levy's statement when the recent set of accounts were published. Let me summarise. We don't have any money and have to sell to buy. On top of that we owe over 200m in unpaid transfer fees. It's not going to be a summer of big spending.

Hmmmm yes I read it, hence my previous reply to you, Sir. And I think it's over 440 mil we still owe...well that's what some finance wiz said on LWOS the other day.

Anyway, even if we had 1 bn to spend, Levy would still manage to get us James Ward-Prowse on loan, Vardy on a pay-per-play deal, and some French or Argie guy with a shitty attitude & poor injury record for 50mil.

Two massive factors before any of us can suggest / identify players to buy for next season:

1. Who will the manager be?
2. Will we have European football?

My assumption is we will have a new manager and no European football. After all the noise about going back the club's DNA, the next manager will be someone who plays possession based, front foot football, and is good at developing youth players (and can work to a budget).

I am also assuming we will sell some of the more senior players like Romero (£50m), Bentancur (£25m), Bissouma (£25m) , Richarlison (£30m) etc. whilst they have some market value. That is in addition to Hojbjerg (£15m) and Gil (£12m) who have obligation loans, and potentially also Solomon (£10m). As usual, the focus will be on offloading players rather than buying better ones.

We also need to decide which of our young players will contribute to the first team next season. Players like Abbott, Donley, Vuskovic, Phillips, Devine, Lankshear, Moore, Scarlett all have something to offer and at some point we need to back them or sell them. There is another batch of academy players close on their heels and time does not stand still.

If we do have no European football then it will be very hard to convince Levy to actually spend any money on new / better players as we will have still have a decent'ish 23-man squad (1 game per week) even if we sell the 7 senior players I listed above:

Vicario, Kinsky, Austin, Porro, Spence, Udogie, Danso, Dragusin, VdV, Davies, Vuskovic, Gray, Sarr, Bergvall, Maddison, Donley, Devine, Kulusevski, Johnson, Odobert, Solanke, Son, Moore, Tel(?).

I personally think that is a squad that, with no european football, could finish top 8, but not get anywhere near the top 4 or win a trophy. And that cannot be good enough.

Two massive factors before any of us can suggest / identify players to buy for next season:

There's also this issue;

''Football.London have now explained that Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in this difficult position due to their increasing transfer debt.

The outlet explains that most of their transfers have been done on credit in recent years, with Tottenham’s transfer payables (the money owed to clubs on players they have already signed) currently standing at a whopping £337m.

In that metric, Spurs are second only to London rivals Chelsea, who have accumulated a transfer debt of £479m.

As a result, Tottenham have been eating into their cash reserve, which has gone down from £198m at the financial year ending in 2023 to just £79m as of March 31, 2024.

It is suggested that Spurs will not want to continue adding to their transfer debt and would thus have to operate smartly this summer by selling players before they can buy.''

So, the club will over value players they wish to sell , meaning sales will be slow or not at all.
Meanwhile incoming, will be extremely limited and drawn out process.

That squad would struggle getting in the top half even with a competent manager. It feels like we are back to the early 90s 10th - 12th finishes with the odd flirtation with relegation.

That kind of news is 100% going to hamper the type and ability of manager we are able to get in. We need to win that Europa league or it could be a very shit rest of the year for us. Unless the pricks sell up of course, which won’t happen.

Unless ENIC put some of their own money in.

I don't have a clue what's going to happen if we do win the EL this month, and qualify for next season's CL because with our current squad we're going to get pummelled.
The appointment of the new manager might be an indicator.
Could very well see poch or someone similar come in and, be told to use academy or young signings purchased by the club.
So, more of a youth worker than manager, the club could really do with some experience in there but, we are not going to pay those fees or wages.

New stadium will be a gamechanger they said...

No chance we get top 8 with that lot. It would be a much weaker squad than this season and we're about to finish 17th.
The new manager needs some help.
The European football point is somewhat moot as regardless of our participation, the first XI needs work.

The focus should be on offloading whoever we can but clearly have 2 or 3 top talents targeted regardless.
Sick of the PL tax too. Drop 50m in Europe and you get VDV/Romero level talents, drop it in the PL and you get Solanke and Johnson.

Need a starting 6 and at least 1 starting attacker. A second forward would be a nice bonus.

It's going to be a long summer...we are skint

The little goblin with try to offer our dross in player exchange deals that nobody will take

Richardson + 20m for Gyokeres

Bissouma + 5m for Wharton

Dragusin +10m for Guehi

Solomon + 15m for Dibbling
