Has VAR Ruined Football?

A shining example of where "rules are rules" doesn't work.
He "won the ball" because it was a foot ahead of the Liverpool player. The fact he went in with that much force, that high and with his studs up though made it inevitable he was going to get the player too.
Anyone looking at that and saying it was not a red because he won the ball should be banned from even watching a football match, let alone officiating one.
And yet, the ref AND VAR got that wrong and let him get away with it.

That's not just a red card, that's assault and should be looking at a police investigation.

A retrospective panel sticking a 6 game ban, plus a club and player fine on such cheating will solve it.
Orange cards for diving.
Yellow + orange = red in a match.
But also, 2 or 3 oranges in a season = 6 match ban.
No point where the slate is wiped clean either. Maybe even not for the next season.
Make players stop doing it.
Give VAR the power to stop play and tell the ref that there was no contact and it was 100% "simulation"

Also, feigning injury has to stop. If you're rolling around in agony not getting up - you get subbed. End of. No excuses. Watch every single manager tell their star player to get the fuck up and get on with it. They would be livid if they had to sub their players off for no reason. Especially if they'd used up all their subs already.

VAR and the refs in general have had a horrendous week.

First the Tarkowski incident.
Then the ridiculous length of time to disallow 2 goals in our game with Chelsea.
Then the Everton Penalty V Woolwich
Then the time to rule our Bergvalls goal.
Then the Ramsdale handball outside the box not even getting a yellow.
Then United not getting a penalty.

SURELY at this stage there needs to be random non ref representation in EVERY single VAR team literally fucking yelling at them "WHAT ARE YOU FUCKING DOING!"

They needed a slap for the Tarkowski one. Any sane person can see that is assault.
The Chelsea offside - If you need that much time - give the goal. Nobody ever wanted this in the history of footbal.
Then the Sarr goal - that should have taken 10 seconds tops. Foul Yes. Red card - never - especially after Tarkowski
Then Everton - why are we debating inside or outside the box with this? It's outside.
Romero is judged offside by his shoulder. But the rules state any part of the body other than hands and arms can be offside. Not to mention, again, it's minutes to decide. Give the goal. Nobody wanted this.
Since when has deliberately grabbing the ball to prevent a striker getting it, outside the box NOT been a red for a keeper?
And how is Dias on Temu Haaland not a penalty?

Seriously - when are referees going to be overseen by people with a brain and common sense?
Some one has to shout at the idiots in the VAR room "the ref has missed it" and " you need to sort that out, it was wrong"
They think the ref has seen every last thing on the pitch and they think he's made a decision. The truth is the ref has either missed it entirely or worse, he's deliberately left it to them and they're not checking it.

Be great but not happening. There is already a punishment and its not used. Yellow straight away for diving but its v rarely used

How on earth was Henderson not given a red card for this handball???

Just said this in the other thread. Absolute stone wall red.

I'm guessing this is typical English referees deciding they didn't want to spoil the spectacle by hampering the underdog so just decided to make shit up.

Henderson on Ref decision during the game & VAR - “I didn't know it was for me in all honesty," he said. "The ball had come into the box so I wasn't sure what they were doing it for. Who cares, it doesn't matter.”

Why it doesn't matter??? they won a trophy!!!

I hate every thing about it and I am sure over 90% of fans have the same feeling.

Football lived through controversies throughout the decades. VAR is just a new form of controversy. There one subtle difference though:
Back in the old days, we all accept it as part of the game since it is human error. It happens all the time in different aspects of life. Football (sports in general) is a reflection of life.
Now with VAR, the controversy continues, but it is a manufactured or controlled controversy. It allows the "powers that be" to manipulate outcomes of games and throw it all on VAR being an imperfect solution. And with the explosion of sports betting, rise of money in football (sports in general) the "powers that be" LOVES control, loves controlling outcomes of things that relate to their bottom line. You do the rest of the math.

I myself find it interesting that VAR and sports betting legalization in America started almost at the same time period.

VAR is corrupt or they are determined to get fans to want to get rid of it by doing such a shite job.
Any ref on a pitch can miss something that’s human error. It’s unforgivable that three people and 55 camera views can get it wrong.

Corrupt or inept? I'd say inept. Either way, get rid.

A red card for a goalkeeper handball? I didn't know that was the rule.
No. Denying a clear goalscoring opportunity - which I reckon it was - and VAR didn't reckon it was.

Seems to me that if Haaland is through on goal in that position he's more than likely to score - or at least to have a clear opportunity to score.
