Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No chance.

By all metrics in the league, we are heading for a relegation battle next season if Ange is still here. There is not a single bit of evidence that he's on the verge of turning it around at all, it's just got worse and worse. We are like the titanic heading towards the iceberg.

If drastic chances aren't made in the summer, I really fear for us next season. That isn't hyperbole, it's based on a very large sample size of results.

Ange is the master of using any excuse under the sun. Last season he moaned we didn't have enough games. This season it's been too many games, then it was too many injuries, and he said when players come back we'd start winning, then that didn't happen so he started saying, Europe is the focus instead and we have too many games. He's just wheeled out every single thing he can, to excuse himself of his failings. Anyone with a brain knew the injury excuse earlier in the season was a load of bollocks, but quite a few gimps fell for it, more the fool them.

There isn't a cat in hells chance, the board and Levy decide to stick with Ange. He hasn't just failed in the league, it's been a disgrace.

It would be unfathomable if the club decided to go again with him.

based on what? Winning a very weak Europa League? that's madness.

No, if we win it, the club will say thanks for the trophy Ange, but off you go. We will hire someone competent to take us forward and manage us in the CL.

If we lose, Ange will be sacked before he gets on the plane home.
He post match villa players were tired as not had many minutes. I’m sure most of them have been playing the PL games recently. Just don’t get this guys logic or how he thinks.

I think Ange has been fortunate to some extent that he has been protected from the worst vitriol on match days because we are still in the Europa. If we lose on Wednesday it will be interesting to see the atmosphere in the stadium v Brighton
I’m mean cmon if lose Wednesday he surely can’t turn up for last home game. He’d have to come in through back door with a blanket over his head. I’m not sure what sort of reception he thinks he’d get.

If he wins on wednesday night he should get a thank you send off on the last day
If he loses on Weds he should ne sacked in the stadium ( humiliated as he has done to this club & its supporters)

Really good post young Skywalker. No drama just an honest reflection on what has been a horrible season. What I worry about most is the lasting damage Ange has done to the club. An underwhelming summer and a poor start under a new manager next season and it will be another season of protests and humiliation. Even when Ange is finally sacked he will cast a dark shadow over this club for a few more seasons.
To be fair mate I get you concerns and I don't think many managers have been worse than Ange but there is quite a bit of evidence that suggests a change in management/coaches can steer a club back on the right track.

Even recently in the premier League alone.

Palace under Glasner
Newcastle under Howe
Forest under Nuno
Iraola at Bournemouth
Pereira at wolves
Moyes at Everton
Poch at chavski
Count Dracula at Villa
Conte with us.

The evidence is overwhelming across the leagues hopefully it will be the same with us

A new manager can certainly change course and we absolutely have bring in someone new this summer.

If we look at your recent managerial changes we're any of the predecessors damaging the club.

Eddie Howe took over from Steve Bruce as new owners wanted their man. He wasn't doing a horrible job considering he had no money under Ashley.

Nuno didn't really cause any damage here before Conte took over.

A lot of people thought Gary O'Neil was unlucky to lose his job to Iraola and many credit the work he did as foundational for what Iraola is doing now.

In most of these cases, the manager coming in didn't find dumpster fire like our next manager is going to find.

Whoever he is will inherit a mentally fragile, injury prone, unbalanced squad who have been playing poorly for 18 months and have set all kinds of unwanted records. He will also need to sell one, if not two of his best assets to generare transfer funds. Granted they may win the Europa but that is not papering over the cracks. The Champions League will be fun but let's face it, this squad would be doing well to get out of the group stage.

In summary. Any new manager is gonna need time. In fact, I've already written off next season. If we can steer clear of relegation and at least be good at home, finish mid table then I'll be fine with that.

I don't think any of those examples get anywhere near our aspirations. We want to be challenging for the title.

Palace - Very average season in the league despite a good squad (that stayed fit). 6 points from 33 against top 6 teams.
Newcastle - Seem to have hit their ceiling with Howe and the current squad. Only 3 players under 25 in their squad, and a number of important players now over 30. They will do well to keep Bruno and Isak this summer.
Forest - Spent over 400m, and likely to end up 7th. Will probably lose their best players in the summer.
Wolves - Spurs can still finish this season above them.

It would do good to remember, that even with injuries, Ange's Spurs finished above all of those teams (bar villa) last season.

The nonsense about it only being 10 games that defined our season is just that - nonsense. All teams outside of the top 1 or 2 tend to have hot and cold periods. Villa for instance, were good up until mid-December, then won only 8 of their remaining 21 games - with only 1 of those wins coming against a team in the top half.

We went to be challenging for the title in what world? That isn't happening anytime soon under these owners... The club need to get back to what it's good at and what it's ceiling is and that's challenging for CL places.

I don't think that's particularly a difficult thing to do with these players for a new manager.

could argue we're good example of a predecessor damaging the club when Conte left and Kane leaving, even Postecoglou(or Chris Davies)had enough about him to get us a top 6 finish despite the cloud over the club at the time.(I get it we wasn't as bad as now but you get my point, we were in free fall under stellini and mason)

While this squad isn't champions league level quality with a good level management we will be instantly better and with a few ins and outs to freshen the squad up.

In which case, we may very well be achieving exactly that this season. We are 90 minutes, and a Onana howler away from a Champions League place.

So, if Champions League qualification is all that we aspire too - hasn't Ange in fact done a fantastic job? He's got Champions League AND a Trophy - The statue can't be built quick enough!

Yeah you ain't doing this to me, I see what your doing here rudeboy :sonpoint:

The point was that because Postecoglou is doing the worse job I've ever seen in the premier League, there is plenty of evidence that we can improve under better management.

It's worth remembering that since Postecoglou's arrival he has consistently lowered his PPG with every passing month since the first 10 games he was at a career high of 2.6ppg now he is currently operating at 0.7ppg(based on last 20 league games)

0.5ppg based on the last 10 league games.

He's the worst manager I've ever seen at this level and the evidence supports this.

I do get the argument... when Conte left we were 4th in the league but of course removing Kane from the squad was always going to leave a hole. It will be difficult for a new manager to be any worse that Ange but I worry about the fragility of this squad. Think about what that home game against Brighton is going to be like if we don't win on Wednesday. As much as I'd love Ange to own this whole fucking season, Levy will have to remove him just to get the level's of toxicity backed to "heightened". Other than the Korean corners, I expect most people will not bother turning up or leave before FT. Anyone staying will be there purely to throw abuse. I doubt the players will do a lap of (dis)honour... which is why Wednesday is so important. Not just a trophy or a route into the Champions League but the antidote to make a Sunday a positive experience. If we don't win... it will be ugly!!!

Fuck.
Off.

And yet he has the highest win % in cup competitions of any Spurs coach in decades and is about to lift a major European Trophy.

It sure is a funny old game!
