In which case, we may very well be achieving exactly that this season. We are 90 minutes, and a Onana howler away from a Champions League place.

So, if Champions League qualification is all that we aspire too - hasn't Ange in fact done a fantastic job? He's got Champions League AND a Trophy - The statue can't be built quick enough!

Yeah you ain't doing this to me, I see what your doing here rudeboy :sonpoint:

I don't think any of those examples get anywhere near our aspirations. We want to be challenging for the title.

Palace - Very average season in the league despite a good squad (that stayed fit). 6 points from 33 against top 6 teams.
Newcastle - Seem to have hit their ceiling with Howe and the current squad. Only 3 players under 25 in their squad, and a number of important players now over 30. They will do well to keep Bruno and Isak this summer.
Forest - Spent over 400m, and likely to end up 7th. Will probably lose their best players in the summer.
Wolves - Spurs can still finish this season above them.

It would do good to remember, that even with injuries, Ange's Spurs finished above all of those teams (bar villa) last season.

The nonsense about it only being 10 games that defined our season is just that - nonsense. All teams outside of the top 1 or 2 tend to have hot and cold periods. Villa for instance, were good up until mid-December, then won only 8 of their remaining 21 games - with only 1 of those wins coming against a team in the top half.
The point was that because Postecoglou is doing the worse job I've ever seen in the premier League, there is plenty of evidence that we can improve under better management.

It's worth remembering that since Postecoglou's arrival he has consistently lowered his PPG with every passing month since the first 10 games he was at a career high of 2.6ppg now he is currently operating at 0.7ppg(based on last 20 league games)

0.5ppg based on the last 10 league games.

He's the worst manager I've ever seen at this level and the evidence supports this.

could argue we're good example of a predecessor damaging the club when Conte left and Kane leaving, even Postecoglou(or Chris Davies)had enough about him to get us a top 6 finish despite the cloud over the club at the time.(I get it we wasn't as bad as now but you get my point, we were in free fall under stellini and mason)

While this squad isn't champions league level quality with a good level management we will be instantly better and with a few ins and outs to freshen the squad up.
I do get the argument... when Conte left we were 4th in the league but of course removing Kane from the squad was always going to leave a hole. It will be difficult for a new manager to be any worse that Ange but I worry about the fragility of this squad. Think about what that home game against Brighton is going to be like if we don't win on Wednesday. As much as I'd love Ange to own this whole fucking season, Levy will have to remove him just to get the level's of toxicity backed to "heightened". Other than the Korean corners, I expect most people will not bother turning up or leave before FT. Anyone staying will be there purely to throw abuse. I doubt the players will do a lap of (dis)honour... which is why Wednesday is so important. Not just a trophy or a route into the Champions League but the antidote to make a Sunday a positive experience. If we don't win... it will be ugly!!!

Fuck.
Off.

And yet he has the highest win % in cup competitions of any Spurs coach in decades and is about to lift a major European Trophy.

It sure is a funny old game!

If you consider 20+ league defeats a 'fantastic job' then yes.

We know it's you Arsene. And no, we won't be keeping Ange. Perhaps you can have him at Woolwich when you get rid of Legohead.

Have some more straws to clutch... if Palace's season in the league (12th) is very average, what does that make ours (17th). Newcastle have hit a ceiling with an ageing squad. Bruno 27, Tonali 25, Joelinton 28, Barnes 27, Isak 25, Gordon 24, Livramento 22. All important, all under 30. Looks like they are about to hit their prime rather than their ceiling. If they do sell Bruno and Isak then they are going to have serious money to re-invest.
I'm not even going to bother with Forest and Wolves one of which did the double over us and we managed a solitary point against the other. We were 8 point clear of Wolves at the turn of the year and now we need Wolves to lose their last two games and a win against Brighton to finish level on points with them.

You posted something so mental even Shady couldn't agree with you.

The shark has been jumped.

I suspect fans of bourmouth, Brighton , Brentford, Wolves, palace, forest etc would give their right bollock to swap with us and be in European final.

But hey, if finishing 4th with an empty trophy cabinet floats your boat....

Comparing expectations of tottenham to those clubs listed is as ridiculous as comparing our standards to Liverpool psg and Barcelona, and trust me none of those fans are giving their right bollock to swap positions with us.

Even those clubs you listed, not a single of their fans would rather ange in charge than their current manager lol

I think Palace and Newcastle fans will be just fine... they've actually won a final this year... not just made a final. Come back on Thursday and maybe we can debate boat floating.

Ageing squad? If they get 4-5 good new recruits they won’t be far off the top of the league. Since Eddie Howe arrived I don’t think they have made a bad buy. Surprised they fell away at Woolwich yesterday.
They are a very good side but the squad needs bolstering . If it isn’t they might struggle with the champ lge.
Their best team can take anybody on. Howe has improved Murphy and Joelinton beyond expectation.

Perryman - I agree... I was responding theatrically to harry who suggested the squad was ageing and nearing their ceiling. I was pointing out they're nearing their prime.
