Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He's very obviously saying these things in an attempt to make it harder for Levy to sack him, even though he richly deserves it and has for 6 months
He’s doing everything he can to divorce himself of league results and make it look like they were simply the result of injuries. It’s understandable that he would seek to do that- few own up to their mistakes when there is big money on the line.

Who said I didn’t enjoy it? I enjoyed it- but I have kept it in perspective.

It felt great telling the Woolwich fans at the bar last night that I look forward to seeing them in CL next year- really pissed them all off.

I don't remember mentioning you by name as opposed to what I would consider a wider comment.

I just think it was a great night, and a massive weight off our collective shoulders.

The hope now is that we build on it. I think that is now the real challenge.

As for the perspective element, I am waiting until the game on Sunday to comment on Postecoglou.

You replied to a comment where i was singled out.

By the time of the final in 2019 our form, squad and relationship with Pochettino were very obviously in terminal decline, and we achieved that final (to say nothing of the cavalcade of other results that somehow cushioned our slide out of the top 4 down the stretch of the league season) by sheer fluke luck.

If you want to make the point that being a truly great team feeling that we can take on any challenger and with a bright future in front of us is a bigger accomplishment than nicking the Europa League in 17th, the moment to make that comparison is the closing of WHL, not the 2019 final.

We played great ball for about three season in a row culminating in 2019. Nothing we’ve done since has come close.

I’ve been Ange out since early in the season. BUT…

I think he should get another season.

The guy needs to change how we defend but he isn’t an idiot. He’s not clueless or out of his depth like some of our managers have been. He’s not lost the respect of the players.

And he has won something meaningful which others simply have not. What does changing managers do now? Just puts us back where we have been, the new manager would probably fail like all the rest.

Better to stick with a guy who despite his flaws somehow got the job done anyway. And who clearly believes (genuinely i think) that he can deliver more. What does changing managers we lose from giving him a chance? It’s not like we have someone like Pep lined up to come in to almost certainly do better.

17th? Who cares, once we weren’t getting top five the league didn’t matter, that’s why we finished where we did. And arguably we didn’t challenge for top five because injuries killed our season before Christmas.

So I’m Ange in.

I’d get someone in to help him sort the defensive tactics out though. There’s just no need to be that suicidal against teams with good attacks.

I guess I don’t totally understand your point in the second paragraph. I consider the CL final run to be emblematic and a deserving run for how good we were in that time.

Ange very slowly is learning. I really hope he can turn this into respectable league form again. If he can all is forgiven.

Can't wait for season 3. Fingers crossed all the tinpot fans who didn't enjoy season 2 have fucked off by that point and we can get fully behind the team / manager. Maybe in the process put as much pressure on the ownership / board as possible to make sure the correct signings are made.
