Gooners!! You couldn’t possibly be happy to win it whilst also recognising the EL isn’t the strongest and not rating the coach who led us to 17th.

I honestly think if you genuinely believe beating AZ, Frankfurt, Bodo and United makes up for finishing 17th you should be classified as having some sort of illness.

It is not a crime to try and keep things in perspective. We would have gotten absolutely thrashed in CL this year. We got absolutely thrashed in the league this year. We got squarely beaten in the domestic cups. We were not competitive in domestic cups or the league. The EL was massively easier a comp than any of our domestics or CL.

What exactly is difficult to understand about that?

The EPL performance this season wasn’t just ‘not good enough’. It was an absolute shambles mostly that could’ve ended disastrously.

But, maybe we did need that focus to get the trophy monkey off our backs. Maybe the squad did need to really feel what it is like to win.

Maybe Ange has developed as well. I’m not convinced and if the board identify a genuinely better proposition they should take it.

I’m not sure they will.

wouldnt say its meaningless, its the third most prestigious trophy in club football after the league and the CL. id rather europa over the FA cup all day long.

fair enough its been softened to the absolute maximum now, but its a trophy with big history in football.

Not a single team we’ve played would be top half in the prem. The one we played in the final are literally 16th and were somehow unbeaten in the same competition.

It’s a big trophy due to the reward (CL) and because it’s a European cup. Its prestige is very high in relation to the actual competitive challenge.

If the FA cup gave you CL it would immediately become a better trophy - you play much better teams.

None of which should alter the enjoyment of winning it, but in that context I’m not gonna bum lick Ange or indulge in him massaging his own back for doing it either. Thanks for getting over the line and breaking our duck but we all have eyes and can see the quality of the teams we played.

You currently have to beat harder teams to win domestic cups in England than current format EL- fact.

He kind of, sort of, learned how to park the bus. By default. Because his tactics don’t work and then you are pressed to death in your own half and end up playing route one football anyways.

It’s really silly that some folks have called any of this “tactical masterclasses”. A complete joke in fact.

frankfurt are 3rd in germany, bilbao 4th in spain, bodo knocked out lazio who are 6th...hardly shit teams.

FA cup has never been a bigger prize than the eufa cup.

never in a million years is the FA cup more prestigious than a trophy thats had all the biggest clubs in europe competing for it.
