Management Ange Apology Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I would put the apology form in here but a polite apology to the King, me and harry7 should be sufficient, thank you. 🙏

So the Ange thread is for critical hatred and the evangelist thread is for cultlike admiration. So happy we got another one to cover this subject. My favourite food is Chinese: duck pancakes, satay skewers, sweet and sour chicken - love it.

Sounds delicious.

Had Japanese last night to honour Ange’s time with the Marinos.

Or maybe it was just because I fucking love a bit of Uramaki washed down with a few Asahi.

What’s your favourite food harry7 ?

I just don't think you get to call a manager a "fat cunt" and then get to revel in the feelings of joy his success has brought. And I know you never called him that. And I fully respect your reasons for not wanting him to be our manager and I think by and large your concerns have been proved right. I agreed with many of them and so include myself in the group of Spurs fans who don't really "deserve" this celebration as much as others (who just always remained optimistic and "loyal").

We have to face the consequences of our opinions and statements. I think you do but there are so many on here who are showing the most cringeworthy hypocrisy. just needs mentioning.
What a load of utter bollocks. If you support Spurs and you didn't call Ange Postecoglou names after we lost the most games in our history do you even support Spurs?

I spoke to a bloke at the parade was at Craven Cottage when Ange decided to dig out the fans after another surrender monkey performance and he said to me. "I'm loving it, but it's got nothing to do with him. I don't like the bloke at all now, he has a way of gaslighting people into this state where they know how bad it is but can't see past the act. It will get worse now and I dread it."

I suspect he'll be proved right because if the people on hers are so exercised about swearing are a marker of how silly this fanbase is we are proper stuffed. I hope someone at the club is smarter than this or we will hit hard times PDQ

I think him leaving or not has a lot of nuanced points to be considered, but I have to say, the way in which some buy into every word he says and how quickly afterwards is incredible. Even when it’s completely contradictory to earlier evidence.

I said a few months back whenever he leaves he should be studied for science. Genuinely think if he told a few on here that selling their houses would benefit the team that they would be on the market the next day.

Incredible what a bit of charisma and certain personality types do to mindsets.

I spoke to a bloke in Bilbao who said "everyone who called Ange a Fat Cunt can fuck right out of my club and has no business sharing in this joy because they are miserable negative cunts".

I mean I'm not sure I entirely agree with him but since we're trading anecdotal evidence :D

Hmmmmmm..........

Then you must be glad to finally have a manager who got us over the line when Redknapp, Poch, Mourinho and Conte all failed with much better squads right? 🤷‍♂️

I’m absolutely thrilled that we’re over the line, and that we have a trophy in the cabinet when so many of us have been waiting so long to taste it again. Wednesday was one of the best nights I’ve ever had as a Spurs fan and both on the night, and today, I give him full credit for the role he has played in managing the team to get that done. I’ll always be grateful to him for winning the competition and regardless of what anyone says about it, it’s a top competition in my eyes. Squad quality, and that of the quality of the squads faced is more contextual than simply saying he did, and they didn’t for me.

I also think Levy will stick with him, I think the optics of sacking him now won’t be appealing to him and he won’t want the bad press that comes from it. So I think he will carry on and get at least a part of next season. I do however question if long term that gets us anywhere. My fear would be that our league form isn’t too much different next season as the level of challenge posed by the league will be tougher than the level we have faced in Europe this season. I think another ‘unprecedented’ injury crisis could befall us (though that’s gut feeling rather than being evidential) and my fear is that a few months into next season, we find ourselves in a crap place again and looking for a new manager, made worse by managers moving in the summer and us looking to replace during the season when people don’t want to move.

I just can’t change the feeling that over the course of two seasons he’s shown that he isn’t great when faced with consistent quality in the league, even if he can get it done in a cup competition where we face less teams in order to win it, and no, that’s not me knocking the achievement of winning a trophy.

I just find it remarkable how many people can instantly forget so much of this season based on one night of winning a trophy. Don’t get me wrong, a fantastic night, one that will indeed live long in the memory, and he deserves all the praise he gets for it - as I say, I just fear we end up in a place next season which the consistent data we have points to being a very high possibility, and then where are we?

But hey, I’m a fan on a footy forum chucking an opinion about, I’d love to be wrong and it’s very possible I will be, I just don’t agree that people questioning his long term qualities are in the wrong to be doing so. I’m still buzzing about Wednesday and will be for a long time, but two things can be true and I question his quality over a league season against top opposition. Either way, as much as I’m very unsure on him, if he’s here next season, I’ll support him in the hope the club achieves more.

You should be less concerned about the manager and more concerned about Levy giving him the tools to succeed.

We currently have a worse squad than we have had in the last 5 years. That needs to change.

As I’ve said many times over the last year or two, Levy is the biggest issue at the club halting our progression. It just happens to be that there are other issues too.
