Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

True but he was happy with the squad. If target was 4 or title challenge then why did agree to all the signings and say he was happy with the squad. Can’t have it both ways. If he wanted to challenge for top 4 / title especially after finishing 5 previous season he would have known what type of players we needed. Are we now saying this season we had go backwards first league wise.

I thought Eze was a target but it fell through? Honestly I don't believe he has the managing pedigree and therefore power to demand more from Levy that what he was given, and TBF we did spend a decent sum on players and which in no absolves his finish in the league. Eleven wins is in no shape or form acceptable.

The worst thing to happen to Ange was the game yesterday , had the season finished after Wednesday night and the parade there would be a different vibe but after yesterday it just showed how bad this season has actually been , it was like a morgue after 5 minutes because there is literally nothing enjoyable about watching us play , not one player that gets you excited and it was a stark reminder that Angeball no longer exists , the players checked out 18 months ago , opposing managers relish playing us and he has normalised losing . The fact he has openly said we binned the league in January is an insult to every fan .

Wharton will be a Real Madrid level player, he won't leave now when he can leave for a bigger club in a couple of years.
Yes I think you are right. He might be happy to do a year in Europe with Palace and get a few more England caps before looking for his move. He'd be my dream signing is all and just think we'd have a chance of getting him this summer if we acted fast as none the other big teams are looking for a 6. The other 5 CL clubs all have Gravenberch, Zumbemendi, Rodri, Caicedo, Bruno G. If Wharton did want to leave this summer for CL ball then we'd have a chance of getting him! He'd walk into our team and he knows it!

Lol yeah cos coming out in Feb and telling everyone that he's not bothering with the League and he'll win the Europa instead would have been met with love and hugs on here.

We all knew it the last few months though. We saw the line ups. Everyone knew he was going for balls deep for the European glory.

Fair play to him.

And it's why I don't put a massive stock in the 21 defeats argument. It's awful yeah but the last two months we've been saving our best team for Europe.

He can't do that next season and so he needs a better squad. The summer is crucial.
Of course he could have made it clear to the 60k who turn up every week and go to away games. Hey guys don’t waste your money as we can’t be bothered to try winning any league games. I’ve never known any top level team to have that attitude. It was only a few weeks ago he was saying the league form suffered bcos of deep runs in the caraboa and Europa. Before that he was saying it was the injuries and wait till everyone is back. Which one is it?

He says he can’t understand why some fans want him out after an unprecedented season.

According to the Oxford dictionary - unprecedented :- “never done or known before.“

Either he’s unaware of our previous cup victories in Europe or he’s only referring to recent seasons. If, according to his interpretation of the word, then it’s also unprecedented, over the last few decades, that we’ve last had so little league points, so many league losses and ended up so low down the table.

If he wants to take credit for the EL win, then he should, equally, take responsibility for the poor PL season.

There are two sides to a coin. You can’t polish one side and gloat over it whilst keeping the other side dull and neglecting it.
Tottenham have never lost as many games in the League in any season, ever. Thats the only thing that is unprecedented. And it is sackable.

You guys are insanely delusional if you seriously think Ange purposefully sacked off the league to focus on europa.

We have been horrendous in the league since November 2023, he’s using the Europa run as an excuse for the league last season. He was the same person who said the previous year he was against finishing 10th and just winning a cup as it didn’t show true signs of progression. He’s bullshitting you lol.

I’ll be forever grateful of ange for these past few days, but this revisionism is insane, this wasnt some genius plan to win europa and tank the league. Also beating utd for a 4th time this season isn’t going to suddenly make us consistent in the prem next year or make ange suddenly able to balance Europe and the prem next year. Our problems remain we now just have the trophy burden off our backs.
Remember not wanting to win if you didn’t deserve to. We won the final with one shot on target which was off their defender.
Of. Doesn’t matter how they go in and we won so ends justify the means ( I think that is what most will say). However doesn’t keep to Ange’s own words and beliefs.

Yeah I saw the 3 subs come on davies Richi and boss and thought not one of them is going to get you out of your seats. We already had Wilson doing an invisible act after he came on. Johnson was being Johnson, Solanke ran around and tel I guess tried first half. Why not bring on Moore. Excite the crowd or adeji. We were losing the game anyway. What happened to the exciting players who could provide some magic.

Jan24 place buy him for £20M. 6 months later we hijack Brentford to get gray for dbl the money. Did anyone not see Wharton play scouts, Ange , Lange! Did we over look him?

I genuinely do not understand how anyone can listen to this buffoon speak, and not see through his bullshit. I'm not even being unfair to him. He's completely chatting shit, spinning everything in such a way that it looks like it was all part of the plan, he's in control, nothing to see here, finishing 17th and winning a trophy is fine, it's what we all wanted. Loses are unacceptable but there's good reason for it all. Next season will be better just trust me.

He's a gaslighting prick. I am sick of hearing him lie and lie and make excuses for his failings. He just stands there after another league defeat and says the same shit every week.

I'll be gutted if he isn't sacked imminently.

This pretty much spot on .
But he could have spun it differently and had a point.
Had we not had the terrible injuries and not gone for the EL at.the endvof the season - we would most likely have not lost 22 games.
My guess is 15 - 18. Still very bad and we would have been 14th - 16th. He should have said this is not acceptable - and we must improve next year.

The essence of what you say is right- he has been a shit manager this year - and may well be a terrible one.

And he does bullshit - but most manager's do when they lose. Only Pep doesn't- he doesn't have to.

Absolutely correct - Angeball is a bore fest - he loves boring footballers who play boring football.
Essentially a low cross into the box for a tap in. That's his go to.
Have we scored one really good goal this year? I can think of one from Porro.

He does not buy or encourage players to show individual brilliance.

The media narrative is way off - he's a different version of Conte and JM.

I would prefer someone who sat back and played counter attacking football with three fast dynamic front players.

The only encouraging sign was him playing Maddison, Bentancur and Bergvall in midfield. That's at least conducive to good football. Put Kulu in there and you are getting close.

Frankfurt at home was our best attacking display- when they all played

In football terms what is Ange’s pitch for next season? Do we go back to the reckless kamikaze-ball from earlier in his tenure or is his new extreme Dyche-ball the way forward? Neither is likely to win us many matches.

The reality is that he has not got the coaching skill to make a team that can win PL matches consistently. To do that the team needs to find an effective balance and Ange hasn’t shown any sign of being able to do that.

He rightly threw Angeball in the bin some months ago but then he went to the other extreme of playing Dycheball. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a novice coach because that’s what he is at this level. Is anyone really convinced that he has the football expertise to make us competitive in the league and CL? We won three games against top 10 teams in the PL last season. THREE!

If we don’t hear anything by the end of this week about his future then it means Levy is undecided and the Europa win has given him second thoughts. And the longer it drags on, the further behind we will be next season. Other clubs are already signing players. There is only so far being in the CL is going to get us when it comes to transfers. Levy needs to decide quickly and we need to move forward. Although, if Thomas Frank is the replacement then I am not convinced we will do better than mid table next season.

I just can't see it changing much next year, players we have still, will stroll around thinking "we are EL champions ".
The recruitment will be much of the same as before, youngsters or, out of contract signings all on affordable wages.
Unless he can change his tactical and organisation structure, it's going to be more of yesterday's results until his eventual demise.
