Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The worst thing to happen to Ange was the game yesterday , had the season finished after Wednesday night and the parade there would be a different vibe but after yesterday it just showed how bad this season has actually been , it was like a morgue after 5 minutes because there is literally nothing enjoyable about watching us play , not one player that gets you excited and it was a stark reminder that Angeball no longer exists , the players checked out 18 months ago , opposing managers relish playing us and he has normalised losing . The fact he has openly said we binned the league in January is an insult to every fan .

Second half I looked around and a high amount of people were on their phones not watching the game. We don’t attack with any competency so it’s no surprise. Need a lot more quality up there.

There isnt really any itk anymore, certainly not from those charlatans. The worrying thing is i doubt Levy has even decided yet as he's such a massive ditherer. Can see this dragging on and becoming painful.
I think Levy had his sights set on sacking him and made the decision back in March. He just didn't see the benefit of sacking him mid season and doing the Ryan Mason thing for a third time in 4 years. His full focus was on bringing Paratici back to the club to lead up this managerial search. However, winning the Europa League has muddied the waters.

Levy knows sacking him a few days after winning the club's first trophy in 17 years will bring a lot of heat on him. So I'm guessing he's just going to wait it out for a week for the emotion to die down. Then I think he will sack him on the first week of June. He has to make his decision this week as he can't go into June without nailing himself to a plan. I'd also imagine they want to see who's available to replace Ange before parting ways. Qualifying for the CL complicates things as previous candidates like Frank, Iraola and Silva have no CL experience.

I know we aren't supposed to like Levy or ever defend him but I can appreciate that he has a very busy week ahead and a lot of permutations to think about!

If that info is true on SC and I fear it is, we are fucked.

Levy has bottled the decision. I can't believe he's watched us all season long in the PL, and decided to go again with Ange when anyone with a clue about football would know Ange's tactics and system are inherently broken. Typical Levy, always making the wrong decision.

He'll be sacked by October / Novembe and next season will be a write off.

Why do you belive SC so much?

In football terms what is Ange’s pitch for next season? Do we go back to the reckless kamikaze-ball from earlier in his tenure or is his new extreme Dyche-ball the way forward? Neither is likely to win us many matches.

The reality is that he has not got the coaching skill to make a team that can win PL matches consistently. To do that the team needs to find an effective balance and Ange hasn’t shown any sign of being able to do that.

He rightly threw Angeball in the bin some months ago but then he went to the other extreme of playing Dycheball. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a novice coach because that’s what he is at this level. Is anyone really convinced that he has the football expertise to make us competitive in the league and CL? We won three games against top 10 teams in the PL last season. THREE!
Quite like Conte it seems like Ange is unable to balance competing no multiple fronts. But the difference is that Conte intentionally tanks his European campaigns to focus on domestic success. Ange has just not figured out how to do it.

If Paratici is coming back, Levy will defer the dirty / necessary work to him. He won’t get the blood on his hands.

Paratici is seemingly anything but incompetent ( unlike some we could mention ) so I’d be interested to see which way he goes with Ange.

The other thing that is likely to impact upon all of this is the forthcoming investment / buy out of the Joe Lewis Trust interests. Some indications are that it is near. If it’s far, then there seems little mechanism for anything but the usual piss poor windows.

Mostly that looks like 1 starter, 1 squad player with promise and 1 youngster. If we are fortunate they dump in a wide forward from France for shits and giggles too who might be the next Henry ( N’jie, NoCludeo, Oberbert, Tel )

A repeat of the same pattern of squad building would be a huge worry, and no manager is overcoming another squad with so few grown ups in it, let alone Dame Edna Average.

And back to Ange. Watched us yesterday. And it was the same patterns of play that never ever work. So on one hand the players are, to their credit, doing what he is asking for. But why does he keep asking them to do something that does not work ? That’s what I don’t understand, is he thinking one day they will “crack it” and never look back ?

The way the info was posted sounded credible. Like it had come from Ange's side, how happy he is after the chat with Daniel.

Trust me mate, I am praying it's bollocks.
Have they EVER posted anything that’s credible?!

It’s usually so vague it reminds me of seeing one of those mystics - ‘I have someone wearing blue trying to come through! Do you know anyone that liked the colour blue?’ 🙄

That's pretty much how I see it.

It would be quite callous to dismiss Postecoglou at the moment, but the early part of next week would look more like a hard decision had been reached.

There are numerous ways to deliver the right message in the right way.

This doesnt make sense.

Heat from who? The way I'm reading from most on here is that there is a big consensus that he should go - so why would announcing him leaving bring him heat? Unless most people want him to stay??

I do also think the profile of any potential new manager is now quite different because of the glory of Wednesday.

It probably has reduced the size of the options, because the demand is arguably harder than it may have been.

Whoever comes in (if change is made) has to be believed to be able to deliver top 6 and get through the group stages (into the last 16/8) of the CL.

Not necessarily easy,I will say that.
