I know well how innocent comments get twisted by the masses.I mean, you (and others saying this) could just go back a page a or so and go "oh okay, no one actually said that".

It was a simple comparison that a forward scoring a goal every 2 games and getting a winning european final goal (no matter how scruffy/dubious) around 20 years ago would be considered eligible for an individual accolade.
Take it that I'm mystified as to how any of that has translated into suggesting Johnson should be anywhere near a nomination in the current day, aside from intentional out-of-context replies just to make a hyperbolic response.
That being said, I personally think Modric has been the only worthy ballon d'or winner for well over a decade, as it turned into a popularity award and not a footballing accomplishment one.
People on here tried to say I thought Johnson was as good as peak Bale because reading is hard.
