Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We are a CL team next season, this makes us a cracking proposition, should go all out for the best that's avaliable. Yeah Cherki would be a good shout, should try and get Gyokers as well.

It does , but , those good players , many who may have played against , know just how open we play and are going to be very circumspect about coming here , especially if Ange is still here .
Top defenders like Guehi aren't going to be playing in that system .
A change of manager will make a big difference .

Spurs being left behind again. Not surprising especially with the manager situation up in the air.

I wonder how long Levy will piss about for this time.
Maybe Levy is not pissing about.

Reguilon out - Vuskovic in.
Werner out - Donley in.

Try to grab a couple of others on a free, Johnathon David (for Scarlett) and Walker- Peters (for Davies). Maybe Devine back (for Tel), a fee free goalkeeper (for Forster) and we are done.
Window sorted.

Use any excess money for hotel upgrades.

United signing Cunha and Mbuemo.

Remind me, who won the Europa League final and got CL football?
Players give 2 fucks about CL football. It's always been a dog whistle for bigger wages. It's always, always, always about the money.

Anyway, Twitter rumours are always 90% trash and 10% throw enough darts and one of them lands. Out of Mbuemo, Cunha, and Delap I'd be surprised if more than 1 signs with United.

Can't believe how worked up some people still get over this shite.

That would explain why, last time we qualified for the CL, we used our "War Chest" to sign Perisic, Richarlison, Spence, Bissouma, Forster and Lenglet. I'm certain that the CL was not a factor for any of those players and I suspect a lot of top players were deterred by Conte's reputation for walking and the fact that he had only signed an 18 month contract.

The only time we've ever used CL clout to sign a player was Van der Vaart.

Off topic but does anyone know if Steed Malbranque has a thread on this forum? I've put his name into the search feature but nothing was found.

I think you are crackers if you think that squad is ok. That main squad is three injuries - Romero, VDV, Maddison - away from being extremely weak/poor. Either meh/deeply flawed senior players or very inexperienced young players. That squad is full of players who wouldn’t look out of place in bottom half teams.
This is really the crux of it. The manager debates aren't pointless by any stretch but no one's picking up this squad and turning them into a truly competitive outfit across more than one competition and we're in 4 this coming season.

We need 3/4 excellent transfer windows of ins and outs before that's happening whilst hanging onto our best players already here.

Apart from those at the end of contracts we need to move on players like Dragusin, Davies, Richy and replace them with better. I'd also cash in on Kulu and Johnson now and do the same personally but I realise that's not a popular opinion.

We have lots of on their day players but this squad is riddled with inconsistent performers who struggle to do it week in and week out. The youngsters will be better for what they've gone through this season (both at Spurs and out on loan) but they're not ready to bridge the gap required yet, if ever.

Hoping for the best but not expecting it.

He wasn't a bad player for us. Not exactly world class but he was a reliable squad player and a habit of chipping in with important goals here and there. Operated as a makeshift left winger in a Ronny Rosenthal kind of way.
There were rumours that he smoked, especially when he played for Sunderland after he left us, and it caused him to be unable to play for a whole 90 minutes but I think it's probably bullshit.

There is some really basic stuff we need to do before signing new players. Levy needs to make a definitive statement on Ange. Is he in charge or not and is he being backed? Only an idiot would sign for a club with uncertainty around the manager. Either he goes now and is thanked for his service, or Levy gives him a new contract and says publicly that he’s being backed. Has to be one or the other. This week. The lack of a convincing statement from Levy is a recurring problem at this club.

I don't think a new contract is necessary but some sort of statement to confirm that Ange is staying would be great.

I remember when AVB was sacked a lot of people assumed that Sherwood was only going to be in charge for a few matches and Levy had to make a statement saying that Sherwood had been given an 18 month contract just to say "This is the manager. Get behind him."

I think a new contract is important, even if the contents do not mean much (e.g. same notice period as before). Just to instill authority in Ange to the players and any new signings, and get the media off his back. If we lose 7 of the first 10 games they can still replace him. Just increases his odds of not losing 7 of the first 10 matches. Currently, if he stays, there will be intense speculation on all fronts that he is a dead man walking and that will not help.

I just feel like the transfer window is going to be underwhelming. Levy has already indicated we won't spend what we don't have and we are also carrying 230m of transfer net debt which will have to be serviced. Two, maybe three 20m - 30m players.

I think along with Ange staying we'll also see Son stay- it feels like a "last hurrah" sort of moment with the CL run- I doubt Levy would want to mess with that. I kind of expect most the team to remain the same. I think we'll simply fill in the holes and that'll be that- Cardoso at CDM, somebody at LB or RB, and a versatile attacker. Maybe we actually can go after Eze or Mbeumo now? That would all fit in with what you are expecting fee wise- a couple 25m players and one 30-50m. I do think Levy will feel pressure to spend a bit more now to make it look like he is really backing the team (haha).

I'm also interested to see if Ashley Phillips can do a job for us in the backup VdV role. He's apparently got a lot of speed and maybe can kind of play a similar role, at least defensively.
