Transfers The Summer Transfer Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Not being funny but that sounds like a bottom half team buying bottom half players.

Are we really at the stage where we think buying a player that's been mostly anonymous at Brentford for 6 seasons and a winger that doesn't get into the top four teams is now something to aspire to?
Yet we are happy with relegated Burnley wingers .

Very much agree w the list posted earlier.
Must bring in a great CDM

Must have a LCB cover for Micky.

I have no clue what to do on our front 3.
Lotta decent squad players, but are any really a nailed on starter in a top 4, CL squad? We are both somewhat bloated there and yet short on quality.

Also could use another LB/RB option. 3 decent players (all of whom have peaks/valleys) to cover the 2 positions is light.

He is pretty special. Creates out of nothing and crazy amount of skill, I would absolutely love to have him.
Agree his flair, dribbling and technical skill are off the charts but there seem to be questions about his work rate/willingness track back/defend.

But he’s 21, reportedly has a 25M release clause and weekly wages of £65K. For that transfer fee and current wage, Levy should be all over it. Supposedly Mancs and Scouse are interested but he seems be a Plan B for both of them - so Levy should pounce in case their Plan A’s (Mbeumo and Wirtz) fall through and they come back around.

Then again a Frenchman with questions about work rate/work ethic - maybe Levy gets Ndombelly flashbacks, gets scared and decides to pass.

His highlight compilation is fun. He moves kind of funny …

He brings fun. A deadly player who also is a joy to watch, like a Ginola or someone. We ain’t winning a title or CL but I miss having players that get me off my feet.

I just feel like the transfer window is going to be underwhelming. Levy has already indicated we won't spend what we don't have and we are also carrying 230m of transfer net debt which will have to be serviced. Two, maybe three 20m - 30m players.

How does Lyon keep producing these crowd-pleasing technical genius attackers of North African heritage with reported attitude problems that scare top teams off?

Hatem Ben Arfa, Karim Benzema, Nabil Fekir, Houssem Aouar and now Rayan Cherki.

These guys are always fun, let's do it.

IMO, we have several younger players that may turn into true stars. (Or may not of course)

Bergvall chief amongst them, but Udogie, Odebert, Gray, Sarr, Moore, Kinsky fit the category. Plus some loaned out possibles.

What is needed is “now” juice. Keep bringing the young players along. But bring in 2-3 experienced guys to jump into the lineup.

We have ok but could be improved

Richy
Solanke
Johnson
I think Solanke will improve next season just like Brennan Johnson did in this season. 15 goals is a respectable tally that he can build on and Brennan went from 5 goals to 18. I think we can reasonably expect Solanke to hit 20+ goals next season and Brennan to hit double figures. Sometimes it's better to just let good players play together to develop an understanding - I think Solanke and Johnson have the potential to be a great pairing in the Sheringham-Anderton vein.

I'm more concerned about the left hand side. Son just isn't the player he used to be and Richarlison and Tel aren't quite the players we need them to be - Richarlison has reached the age where he's everything he's going to be but he might surprise us if we give him an extended run on the left hand side and he stops getting injured. What we need is a monster left-sided winger - if we can get that right our front three will score goals galore.

Desperately hope you’re wrong.

The club just got £100M windfall by winning the Europa/getting CL next season and Levy only has planning permission to build one hotel - so it would be a complete disgrace if the windfall didn’t go into the transfer kitty and wages for our incomings.

Not sure we buy a CB if Romero goes.

Currently we have Romero, Danso, Dragusin and incoming Vuskovic for the RCB, we also have Dorrington and Philips coming back. I suppose you can argue we still need another left sided CB to compete with VDV but that won’t be a directly replace for Romero:

Ronaldo is apparently a free agent, and is looking to stay sharp until the World Cup.

Anyone want to see him as a back-up for Solanke?

Levy would love the commercial side.

We should be brave and recycle young players - add a sell on clause or first refusal and let Phillips, Gray, Odobert go

There will be cases when that makes sense; but of the 3 you mention, only Phillips is a plausible suggestion of such a strategy.

......And at the end of the day he's out on loan, building up his value (even if it's just as a credible lower table player) and having minimal impact on our squad building in the here and now.

Interesting summer, because we actually have a fuck ton of players and depth (on paper) at every position except maybe LCB and LB.

A lot of tough decisions to be made about which more experienced players and which young players to trust with more responsibility and not buy players in the position to block their progression.

I think the argument for getting rid of Ange is to bring in a manager who has a real vision and style and can start untangling some of the squad building knots. Lots of big calls to be made and the risk is if Ange is making them and he’s quickly fired next year, we could move on the wrong players.

I genuinely have no idea what we might get from Odobert, Bissouma, Gray, Tel, Richarlison, Bentancur, Moore, Son, Vicario, and Sarr next year for various reasons. I can 100% talk myself into good and bad outcomes for all of them.

Plus even our more reliable performers like Romero, VDV, Maddison, Johnson, and Udogie have substantial injury availability issues.

Really weird spot to be from a squad building perspective.
