Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think whatever he has done wrong in the league has been made up for with the cup. But equally whatever he has done in the cup is tarnished by the league. From that perspective he is on neutral ground, and he (and the players who love him) deserve at least half a season to build on the good vibes now happening. If he leaves and exposes Levy like Jose and Conte did he will have my full respect because he will have done as well as any manger can under the current regime.
So what's your prediction on how Ange does next season? Do you think the "good vibes" will result in a turn around in our league form? Challenging in the ECL?

If you think yes - then fair enough - But if not ...

Maybe to you he’s on neutral ground, but should he stay let’s be clear he most definitely Is not with the board. Any bad run he is gone, do you genuinely think the “good vibes” is going to give ange the ability to juggle multiple competitions next year. No matter what he’s not going to be given the same opportunity as this year to see out the season in hope he wins a cup if the league form is bad.

Glasner’s not leaving Palace.

Xavi, I’m not sure about. He’s only managed at Barca? Can he do it in the PL?
He would if we made him and Palace the right offer. With the right assurances. I mean, think about it. If Tottenham Hotspur can no longer attract or prise away the manager of Crystal Palace, with Champions league football on offer too, then our stock really has fallen off a cliff and there's something seriously, hideously wrong behind the scenes.
I doubt he'd even have to move house or change his kids school etc....

I fully understand people wanting rid of Ange but I’m really underwhelmed by any of the suggested replacements. So underwhelmed I honestly think we should stick with Ange and hope he has learned from his selection and tactical mistakes this year. Managers can improve. Look at one of the suggested replacements Silva for instance. We are all too fickle. When Bournemouth were flying Iraola was all the talk. Frank? No thanks. Xavi? Great player, average manager. Like van Nistleroy. I just can’t believe the players would get behind anyone more than Ange. He won us a big trophy - that must count for something?
Following that reasoning, let's say van de vyn was a second late and didn't block that shot against Man United and Spurs had went on to lose in a shootout, would you have fired him then because there was no trophy?

doubt he's leaving, he wants to stay and the players like him, especially those senior ones, the crowd also made their feelings known last week

Levy will ride it out

The players loving him is a really hard one to get round. Kicking him out would put a huge dent in morale.

Anyone new coming in would automatically be at a disadvantage unless they had a distinguished track record and none of the managers we are linked with fit that bill.

Yeah, Spurs might well be Glasner's one crack at a genuinely big club. And his chance to double his wages. He would IMO be crazy to turn it down.

What are the serious targets for next year? I think the league is out of the question unless Levy decides he has £250 Million to spend this window however we should be looking to secure CL again and winning a domestic cup. I'd take top 5 and the FA cup all day long and for a club as big as Spurs we should absolutely be getting to the KO stages of the CL.

With some of the names floating about I think its best Ange gets the first 6 games of next season, if we aren't on at least 12 Points after 6 games then its thanks for winning the cup and we will never forget that night in Bilbao but we move on without you.

I just hope we are working behind the scenes to get someone lined up in case it all goes tits up.

Targets next year - win the champions league, and win the premier league. If you aren't in it to win it, don't bother.

FA cup and League cup for the kids to get us through to the quarters, then the seniors if fixtures allow.

Without doubt, Ange is here to win - not play for 5th and the milk cup.

So, it doesn’t make him a legend. He’s the fucking worst manager we’ve had for 40 years in the league. That can’t be ignored just because he beat Bodo and some other shit. Legend, my backside.

Bit harsh Mr Soprano but fair point - If he won the European Champions League then of course legend - but Europa League? Legend? No.

If we finished 17th, won the Europa League and didn't get CL for it, I think it would have been deemed far more of a failure.
The prize is worth more than the actual trophy IMO.

Interestingly on Talksport this morning they were discussing Chelsea's final tonight and pitching the question of whether fans even care now they already have top 4 next season?
They'd become the first English side to win all 3 European cups if they win it, but their goal was always to get in the CL next season first and foremost.

If we'd finished 17th and didn't get CL football, even a cup win would not be able to soften that up.

There's no way we could play like we did against 2nd rate teams from 5th, 6th, 7th rate leagues in the CL and get anything other than hammered.
Imagine sitting back against Barcelona, Inter PSG, Liverpool etc and hoping to nick one at the back posts.

I think it will have a lot to do with getting him confirmed and backed ASAP, astute purchases (creativity an absolute priority) and addressing the ridiculous injury/medical team fiasco. Focus on league and CL.

Get the above right and I think season 3 will be better than 2 (without necessarily winning a cup).

Obviously we’re not winning a European trophy.

So what does “better” mean? Too 4 in the league? Top 7? Top half? 15th instead of 17th?

Personally, I don’t see Ange getting us top half - particularly with ECL matches mid-week - and with each win worth over €2 million - I can’t see Levy letting Ange sacrifice them.

If we cant get a big name then i'm not sure i see the risk of a Frank or Iraola. I'd say both have done better than someone like Eddie Howe pre Newcastle or as good as Poch did at Southampon.

Worst comes to the worst if they bomb then summer 2026 we have Poch, Nagelsmann post world cup and maybe Inzaghi is sick of Saudi by then. If we dont do it now i just feel we'll be chasing a Frank, Iraola or Silva come October anyway. Paratici wont give Postecoglou the slack that Munn gave him.

Indeed sometimes it' s better to wait, I know people don't want to hear that but it's probably better for us to delay until 2026 in that respect.

I'd be absolutely shocked if he lasted more than 10 games next season.
The fact many feel exactly the same way should be all the club needs to know in order to plan.

Why waste a season.
Why waste money on transfers.
Why sell players who may perform better under another coach.
Why waste a golden opportunity like CL football by not acting.

Any other coach we've had in living memory would have no support left.
This guys has hoodwinked you all into unwavering support.
It's madness.
It's mass, delusional, madness.
Moyes won the Conference league with Spam.

The teams they beat were no less challenging.

Let's not pretend we've done something anyone couldn't do if they put all their eggs in the one basket
