The disrespect Romero gets is insane. Even his leadership qualities are so underrated. This false narrative that he's some loose cannon who thinks he's better than Spurs.

He hasn't had a red card in over 18 months. He captained us in the Europa League final and got MOTM in the same game. He also got player of the tournament! Yet some fans don't rate him, think he's a liability, think we'll be lucky to get 50m for him and think Guehi from Palace would be an upgrade?

Honestly the disrespect some Spurs player get on here is worse than anything you'd hear from rival fans. Romero was so clutch in that Europa League final. The way he marched the team past the United players down to the Spurs end for the huddle before kick off. The way he gathered the whole team in a huddle before going in at half time. He stepped up. Against all the chaos, against all the Tottenham history of choking finals, Romero was the coolest customer in Bilbao last week. Respect him.

This one million times. People decide they don't like a player because in their head he's reckless or chooses the national team over us and all of a sudden they can't see the wood from the trees.

50-60m… sell him. I love him but he’s not a consistent pl player anymore
£60m would be crazy money for Son. We'd have to take it.

He's given us 10 years service and has won a trophy with us. He would leave us as a club legend and we can use the money to get someone more effective on the left wing.

Bill Nick sold Jimmy Greaves to West Ham in part-exchange for Martin Peters in 1970. We traded an ageing striker for the best locksmith player in the game at that time. We went on to win 3 trophies in 3 seasons with Chivers and Gilzean banging in the goals.

You really do attempt to rewrite history at every opportunity don't you?

He was absolutely horrendous for the majority of the season and made EIGHT individual errors that resulted in goals. There was also issues where it was painfully obvious he was going to be fit for his national team despite being injured for a while with us ( I mean half the board predicted he would be fit a few days before Argentina played and that's what happened).

He does deserve massive praise for showing up when we needed him though. Conclusion is that he can't be trusted to be fit/motivated for the 'smaller' games but absolutely shows up when it's important games.

prior to champions league qualification I think the plan was to not replace him and trust Danso to be a starter with Vuskovic/Phillips being a rotational player.
Maybe the plan has changed now though.
Yes that would be the most likely scenario with Levy. Hence why I think it would be a massive set back to lose Romero.

You can be sure one of Danso and VDV will get injured for 3 months next season and we're straight back to Dragusin/Davies or ever Gray filling in every game.

Thing is, we can't continue being all these potentially good players and not give them an opportunity.

If say we sell Romero and replace him with Guehi then when will Vuskovic or Phlllip realistically get their chance? in 3 years time when we sell Danso? but then we decide we need another CB to replace him and the cycle continues.

Btw Dragusin isn't a bum. He's actually a good centre back that can't really play in an Ange highline but will probably look solid in any other system.
