Luiz makes a lot of sense but he's very much a short term fix. The chances of Levy sanctioning and late 20's Sane and late 20's Luiz, plus mid 20's Eze... in the same window?

I suspect maybe it will be Rovella because of Paratici and Juve links.

Brighton will charge 100m for Baleba. Are we sure he's worth that?
Yeah, Baleba’s worth it for me. You’ve got the DM position sorted for 6 or 7 years and can amortise the fee over a long contract. Levy will always look for the cheaper option and end up wasting more money having to buy three cheaper players who don’t work rather than one who’s a slam dunk.

Think I’d go Hackney over the other wild cards though. His passing numbers are as good or better than Wharton’s in the Champ. He’s been tutored in the position by Carrick. He’s also got a bit of arrogance the way he plays. Only worry is does he have the mobility to cover wide open spaces if we go back to Angeball?

That we somehow got Marseille to agree to a purchase obligation for Pierre when his contract was expiring has to be one up there with the Kevin Wimmer sale in terms of fleezing.

I like Pierre mind you and think that 20 mil is a good deal for him. But it is the fact that we got it when he could just have gone for a free that is so good.
We sold him last summer, the obligation just moves the cost into the next accounting period. He was worth at least 20m when he left

Never really watched Hackney tbh. Kid from the Championship carries it's own risks asking him to step up to PL and CL in the same season tho..

Baleba feels a bit similar to Bergvall when I watch him but Bergvall is a better technician. I'm just seeing more B2B in Baleba than a DM destroyer type. Does he really raise the level of passing ability in our squad? Because we REALLY need MFers who can capp rn.

hahahahahahahahahahhahah

I'll tell you how this one goes. We will spend 40m plus on him and he will proceed to be invisible for his first few games. We as a fanbase will then pretend to be shocked and proceed to ask eachother "why didn't we sign a proven player" and "why didn't we just give Moore a chance".

Then the 'captain save a Hoe' group of the fanbase will inform everyone that "yeh but he's young, how about we be patient" whilst we are 15th place totally missing the point.

Again, if Ange stays it’s more important the 6 can take it on the half turn and pass forward quickly than be a destroyer for me. Ever since the first 10 games when Bissouma went off the boil, Angeball has suffered because of all lack of that. The best form of defence is moving the ball better.

Sane is a good signing. Definitely raises our floor. Knows the PL, won’t take him long to get settled.

We have to soend big on the DM and Eze though. Then it will all look like smart business.

Eze and Sane either side of Solanke against low blocks will be a quantum leap up in wing play from this season.
I watched him a lot last season , fans would turn on him after 5:games. I don't rate him

So far, none of the players Brighton have sold for astronomical fees have lived up to their price tag...

My only issue with Baleba (and I know it's somewhat irrational) is that many people, me included, thought the same when Bissouma arrived. He'd absolutely bossed games in the 2 years before we signed him, often making it look like a man playing against little kids in midfield, the ease with which he took the ball off the opposition, turned out of trouble and passed to a team mate. What happened? He's been largely useless.

Of course I'm not saying the same would necessarily happen with Baleba, but equally I don't think we should assume that he will necessarily even be a success at our place, nevermind talk of having a position sorted for the next 6-7 years... that seems incredibly naive to me... :/

Yeah it's massive.

I still think Gray has it long term but it looks like it will take him longer to get there and we need someone ready for the CL and PL right now. I've only watched him once or twice but I did enjoy Rovella.
