What's strange to me is that some people can't seem separate the enormous accomplishment of winning the EL and the decision of who is the best to manage us in 2025-26.
I am ecstatic that Ange brought us the trophy. No matter how it got done, it got done and I am forever grateful to him.
But, much like when a League 1 level striker helps get you promotion to the Championship, you still need to upgrade for the next season.
For 2025-26, we simply can't have the manager that couldn't handle both the PL and competing in a lower level European competition at the same time be the man at the helm for now doing the same thing but in a higher level competition. He may have been the best person for last season, but that in no way makes him the best person for the upcoming season. He's shown his limits and now we need to thank him and move forward, he's proven he can't do both. We're Tottenham, we should be competing everywhere.

They play in an incredibly weak 18 team league with only one domestic cup and can afford the best of absolutely everything in every position and to have the likes of Barcola in reserve, what a shit comparison to competing as Tottenham in the premier league where every week is a knife fight and you're never, ever going to have the wealth of a country behind you.

Well I do remember results suffering in the end of CL final run. And start of next season. But compared to anything Ange has shown in last 50 games in EPL this was phenomenal league form still.
Under Poch since the end of Feb to end of season when we played in CL final we got 11 points from 12 games (winning 3 drawing 2).
Under Ange this season we got whopping 1 win and 2 draws. So 5 points from 12 games.
Regarding Poch 18-19 team - it literally featured Winks and Sissoko in midfield for the final vs Liverpool. Neither of them would be no better than 5th pick right now. On the attacking side - sure Kane, Son and Alli at that time were far better than what we have now. Fullbakcs - that seasons Rose and Trippier vs Porro-Udogie-Spence - around same-same. Central defense was far better then too. So agreed- he had better starting XI overall, but not as much better than some people make it out to look. Absolutely not "lightyears ahead".
They're an excellent outfit, but no chance in hell they would blitz the premier league. Would be much much much tougher for them.

And we were playing two legs against an Ajax team who battered the fuck out of Juventus and Real Madrid that year in Europe, not Bodo Glimt, so I'd expect our league form to suffer. Or you know, a 100 point City team instead of AZ fucking Alkmaar.
The idea we ever needed to throw away the league to beat these teams is absolutely terrifying. The games around Frankfurt maybe but holy shit we played some absolute garbage in the league and for most of the knockouts, let's be completely honest about this. AZ and Bodo would not stay in the premier league.

Think this is a very good analogy. The issue is the names we are being linked to don't scream "upgrade"... But at a club where Mourinho and Conte can't get a sniff out of Europe maybe there is no obvious "upgrade" and we go for potential?
I would hope (possibly stupidly) that the decision was made weeks ago. We go one way if he wins the cup and another if we don’t. Or we are going in one direction, no matter what.it would t be surprising if we are still deciding, but it would be a disgrace if we are.
But let’s go with your thought that we are still making the decision. I’d be surprised if a fear of backlash was the only thing in the “pro” column. There must be more to it. What else could there be?

Kane was injured for the majority of the CL knockouts and the end of the league season. Pochettino masterminded wins over peak City, an incredible Ajax team who would've cakewalked this years EL without getting out of second gear, and a pretty good Dortmund team - as well as navigating Inter and Barca in the groups.
Are you kidding me? They would struggle to stay in Championship across the whole long season.
Now add to it the likes of Quarabag, Ferencvaros and Elfsborg who would never get out of League One...
We played mostly utter garbage, so I honestly cannot fully feel that kind of enjoyment most seem to have.
I mean - I get it - if we were in CL final. And would have won it. We would have been THE BEST CLUB IN EUROPE without any questions. But what does EL winners make us in reality? I cannot find any more fitting description than "Winners of Eurpean division 2".
But alright - that gets too philosophical. I don't think I would be so harsh if that end of the EPL season would have at least used properly. We had 12 games there. Why not give some consistent playing time to Moore and Ajayi who literally bailed out Ange at the end of January giving one of the most memorable evenings of the season? Moore got more than few minutes sub in TWO games out of this 12. Ajayi never got a sniff. Gray never got a real chance to play in the midfield while there were plenty of moments to test him there. There were really good options to let him grow into this position. Like Southampton at home. But in that one he was on the bench. And in following game against LIVERPOOL AWAY he was literally thrown to wolves. That is not how you treat a young player in my books. All that just baffles me. But most here just see the trophy and say that we won this so everything is super nice and lets continue. I don't quite get it.
I don't agree with much of what they say, but either O'Hara or Bent were talking about the "one game to save your job" scenario on Talk Sport a few months ago. I can't even remember if it was Ange/Spurs they were talking about tbh.
But the point was it makes no sense. If you're at the point of thinking 1 more game is enough to sack the manager, it's probably time to sack the manager.
