Frank has played 4-2-3-1 mostly this season with Damsgaard as his no 10/8, don't see why Maddison cannot operate as that.
All the other times he's played 4-3-3, think he's played a back 5 once or twice.
My instincts tell me that if it isn't Marco Silva; Michael Carrick would be the next best punt.
I watched Boro a few times last season.
Against Coventry, at the fag end of the season, Boro created so many quality chances, playing 1 and 2 touch football in the final third, it was a joy to behold. Coventry's goalkeeper had the game of his life. Carrick's team had a distinct identity.
It's total football and I suspect the players have been instructed not to shoot or cross aimlessly into the box but to continually attack directly until a quality chance is created.
It was obvious that Carrick had given his team clear instructions, which they understood and carried out almost to perfection.
With better, more clinical finishing; I believe Boro would have been automatically promoted.
It may be Carrick's time tbh.
If Spurs don't give him the job I suspect somebody else will make him a Premier League manager in the not too distant future.

Always rated him as a player
He played as though he thought about what he was doing.
Has the right attributes to manage and organise a team.

I might get on the 33-1 being offered seeing as Boro have let him go today.
I honestly think he needs to prove himself in the prem before that jump. Ange should be a lesson to top 6/8 teams in the prem - it takes a whole season to learn and adapt to the prem. It's a distinctly brutal competition, unique to the world. There's never a perfect prediction, but being able to do well with a low//mid table team is a good test.
That or, of course, proving yourself in another top league in europe in addition to other accolades (say winning european cups/doing well in CL) can be a marker for predicted success.
Unfortunately, Ange had none of those markers. Had he gone to say a "Brighton", he would have been found out for his inflexibility and inability to adapt in the league.
I understand the desire for Prem proven but Frank is only proven at keeping a cheap, low budget team in the league.
Is that what we want?
Carrick has not long finished playing and has probably learned what not to do from his stint as a coach at United.
I liked the style of play he has created at Boro. Pleasing to the eye and effective.
With better players I suspect Carrick's time is coming.
What do you reckon head to head shows, out of interest? If we go down this road perhaps we should appoint van Nistelrooy as he has a winning record against Ange.

Sure but over the course of the season Brentford were quite a bit better than us - far from seeing Frank as some sort of messiah, btw!
I had just seen that Carrick had been sacked by Boro.... And was going to ask the fans what they would think if he was the choice.... Ex player... Woodgate as well.. Ex player.... How would we feel about those 2 coming back and attempting to take us to the next level?
I'm slowly coming around to the Frank idea. Posters on here have pointed out that he moved to a 4-2-3-1 for many games last season and used players like Damsgaard. I was probably being too harsh when I described him as pragmatic or saying he is identical to Nuno.

Most prem managers had a winning record against Ange this season.
Odds massively shortening since news of Carricks sacking. He's as low as 12/1 now.

Yeah I know what your saying , was more a bit tongue in cheek that Ange's potential replacement is one of only a handful of managers who didn't manage to beat the worst Spurs team in PL history - obviously a lot more to it then that and if he comes here I wish him the best, but if we are going for a PL manager why not go all out for Glasner?
