Ange's predecessors also had much better teams at their disposal and failed to show up and give us anything in those big games.

Poch is not a closer. He just isn't - I've watched him bottle it in too many big games -
If I am not mistaken Jurgen Klopp lost 7 finals, I think 5 in a row between Dortmund and Liverpool before consistently 'closing' - does this mean he was a bottler as well or just up against good teams in finals?
When Liverpool backed him correctly with three huge signings where he needed them he won the lot.

Cool.

We can just continue to charge eye watering season ticket prices but write the league matches off then.

That's not sustainable sorry.

I never, ever suggested that did I?

What a weird response!

Frank has proven himself at 1 thing, nothing else.

I want my next manager to be someone who has at least had 1 season of European football under their belt, so they know at the very least how to create a schedule to handle that.

I'll support whichever manager comes, like I have done every single previous one, but I haven't heard a single argument for Frank that makes me think he is the manager we need right now.

Then they need to make a believable effort to win the PL
So what evidence is there that over the course of a 38 game season that Ange is willing or able to compete against PL level opposition? He makes public pronouncements that the very idea of pragamtism or adapting is against everything he stands for and we'll never have the budget to make the opposition bend to our will. So what gives?

I dont think Frank is anyones first choice is he? I can think off the top of my head of Glasner, Poch, Iraola, Xavi, De Zerbi who i'd take over him. But he's not some bumbling idiot, he's a decent manager who's punched above his weight with the resources he's had. He might be another Nuno or Eddie Howe. Its not an exact science, some managers just fit. Besides if he's average to poor then summer 2026 you have Naglesmann, Tuchel, Poch and Glasner out of contract.

But even if we don't win, doing well is better than doing badly right? It's far better for fans.

For a start, we'd never have even qualified for the EL had we not done reasonably well (with a lousy drop-off at the end) in the league in 23-24

How do the "league doesn't matter as we won't win it" gang propose we qualify for Europe each year?

Then we disagree. I think it is very possible to conclude Frank is a bigger chancer than Ange. You see, I have listened to Frank plenty and you're right, he comes across as someone with an air of football philosopher about him. However, when you get by the prancing he's not actually saying much at all or at least not anything I couldn't conclude myself. Having a nuanced, detailed and sophisticated approach to tactics does not make you a better manager (see Harry Redknapp). Can he motivate, will his players run through walls for him, does he feel the game and know when to make changes, can he win when it matters. All of these things are not something I am saying Ange has by the way. Also, I don't think he has overachieved at Brentford at all. They are exactly where they should be... slap bang in the middle of the PL. If anything he should have at least kicked on by now and got them into Conference League.

What a load of nonsense

Facts :
i) Brentford do not have Academy
ii) Brentford wages 19th in league

Frank is the 3rd longest serving manager for any club (currently) in all of English league , behind harrogate manager & Pep. In this he took Brentford to premier league and kept them in PL for 4 seasons....Not only kept them, he has done it with no fuss finishing in midtable

The season his side finished 16th, he lost his main striker to ban for 8 months + had 16 injuries with 11 of them requiring surgeries. Of these injuries only 2 were muscle injuries....so mostly out of his control.

You are saying you expect the 19th highest wage giving side to be placed in Conference league ???

You think he has not over achieved at Brentford ?

Again, what a load of nonsense....

People really don't take into account all the teams we lost to in semi and finals.
When people say Kane let us down, Poch let us down etc, they're just not being logical. We have been beaten in those games by good Chelsea sides, good United sides, great Liverpool sides, great Man City sides.
And, oddly. Portsmouth. (FAC Semi under Redknapp)
We were almost always the underdog. If it was anyone else, no body would call them bottlers, they'd be remembered for having done well to get there.
WHU in the FA Cup final against Liverpool. Are they remembered as bottlers?

If we're still having to explain to Angebois why Ange needs to go, then you'll NEVER get through to them.
It's not worth debating/explaining to them now.

If we all put the trolls (because that's all they are at this stage) on ignore, then we can get back to all supporting the same team as one another.

There's the flaw with Ange. He'd have to win a cup every year as he is not capable of a top 5 finish again. He's proven that.

I didn't watch a single one of Klopp's finals so i cannot comment on how he lost them - he may have gone out in a blaze of glory in each just happening to lose because the other side were better.

I watched all of Poch's and he bottled them - we looked shit, uninspired and were out managed by the opposition manager. We didn't go out with a bang, we went out like a wet fart and he was not up to the job.

Not the conversation we are having. I’m talking about the club building a squad to win the PL under any manager

As we saw with Slott taking over Klopps squad, it’s the quality of the squad that matters more than the manager

Sure it’s better to do well but I’d happily prioritize cups if the club doesn’t want to build a squad to seriously challenge for the league
