I see Palace may be kicked out of Europe because of the dual ownership rule. Cant imagine Glasner will be too happy about that. Board messed up badly by not transferring shares into a blind trust. Probably too late now unfortunately.
I think it's bullshit from UEFA to be honest, they are being completely inflexible, also don't necessarily agree that the priority goes to the team that finished highest in their domestic league over the team that actually won something, Lyon finished 6th in an 18 team league last season and won fuck all and they get to go to Europe instead of Palace who won the FA cup? Not to mention the only other time Palace could have qualified for Europe through league placement, English teams were banned from it because of Heysel, they've only ever played in the Intertoto, Lyon have had plenty of opportunities to get battered in the last 16 in Europe, it might take Palace decades to do this again realistically.

The problem is, he spent nearly 30 years at the bottom of the pyramid, then a couple of years a few runs higher, then all of a sudden gets put at the top. He hasn't so much as worked his way up, as been launched from the bottom to the top and never experienced what it's like.
So your saying he started at the bottom and worked his way to the top and was the guy who broke Spurs Trophy draught by winning the EL ?

It is not blind loyalty. I respect Ange because he has earnt his position through hard work and has never been gifted anything. He started from the very, very bottom and succeeded everywhere he has been - against all odds.

At Spurs he inherited a team that was 8th in the league and in a shambles. Kane, Lloris, Perisic, Dier, Moura, Sanchez all left and he was given the task of integrating 5 new players into the starting 11. In that season he had long injuries to Richarlison, VDV and Romero (and was forced to play Emerson Royal at CB). He still managed to get the team 5th - something every the very best Newcastle team have only just achieved by the skin of their teeth.

In his 2nd season he lost key players after the first 12 games. However, he did make a mistake - he still thought the team could compete across all 4 competitions. He was expecting injuries to Romero and VDV to be just a few games, but of course they came back and immediately were out again. Was this poor advice from the medical dept?

The club needed a trophy AND the club needed Champions League next season. By the time January came around there was only 1 way of achieving this - Europa. With the teams left in the comp, he knew he could win it and did.

IF he stays next season, my expectation is that it will be an all-out assault on winning the Premier League. We would need to bring in some experienced players to exclusively play in the Champions League games and I think we have a good enough core of young players to do well in the domestic cup competitions.

‘Dad it was the fucking Europa league not the World Cup, why are you still talking about this 20 years later? I don’t want to hear about Bodo again’.

Whether or not we sack him or not, Ange is a proven winner at EVERY level now.

Indisputable. National Team as well.

It’s awkward for these people who have been calling him a fraud because he came from “lesser” leagues because they didn’t want to believe someone from outside the traditional football countries/leagues could do it at this level but they have egg on their face from that Europa League win. There’s only one level higher to win and very very few ever win at that level

Proven winner lol.

He’s won nothing in England. At national team level? Nobody cares about the Asian cup. Success at NT level is the Euros, World Cup and Copa America. At a push AFCON.

If he’s such a ‘proven winner’ at European level then I’m sure clubs will line up to hire him when we sack his ass. Oh wait the rumour is AEK Athens.. almost like the only thing he’s ‘proven’ is at the B level of Europe and the top clubs don’t want to go near him.

If you want to talk about proven winners in the context of managers in Europe you’re talking major league title or champions league winners, at a push an Emery who has won the EL twelve billion times alongside other stuff. And even he is very much Villa, Villareal level.

England just need to get him a season before the world cup ...........

It really will speak volumes what job he gets when he leaves us. It won't be a club in a top 5 European league is my prediction, he will never go above the EL as a career achievement and think his career will essentially wind up in semi retirement somewhere sunny.

2 weeks have passed since the season ended. 9 full working days if you include the bank holiday. And still no clarity on Ange's future.

The delay is a killer. No planning for next season or a manager to identify targets they want. We need this resolved this weekend. Either back Ange or sack him but do not wait another week to decide!

You seem so blinkered he’s the man, that must mean if he’s sacked you think they’ll be a queue of Premier League clubs waiting to take him?

I somewhat doubt that!

An FA vase win is also more than 90% of managers have ever achieved, that's a meaningless statistic, by default most managers never win anything.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Winning something is a MEANINGLESS statistic?

You are not a serious poster. Your personal feelings towards Ange because we finished 17th have made you rewrite the entire idea of what sport and competition are all about for those who take part??

No, saying "it's more than what 90% of managers have achieved" is meaningless, as I said, the vast majority of coaches that enter football management will never win a competition of any kind in their entire career, that means that by default, any competition win puts you ahead of the vast majority of the pack. You can debate the merit of one Europa league win and how successful or not that makes Ange, personally I really don't think it proves anything tbh, plenty of coaches have won the Europa league more than once who will not be particularly well remembered either. Juande Ramos won 2, plus a league cup, don't think he'll go down as a generational manager though...
