And this is the problem with the Spurs fan mentality. Lets get Xavi, he'll win us trophies because he's done it at Barca.
Then after 2 seasons when he hasn't, the fans turn on him (because he should have by now), Levy sacks him,and this whole merry-go-round begins again. It's been this way for too long at Spurs.

Until real progress has been made with playing staff, and background staff, we'll never challenge for major honours. We could possibly make the grade with a Carabao cup or FA Cup, like Palace did.
However significant improvements need to be made across the board, not just getting Klopp in and we'll be world beaters.
Xavi ain't coming to no stingy Wage-Bill club.

Him, Inzaghi etc. aren't looking at us and thinking " let me go and get grimy in a league I haven't managed in before with a tight-ass budget and a cunt of an owner.*.

Mourinho and Conte set out the warning beacons and that type of manager ain't coming any time soon.

We have to live under the dark reality of Baldcunt until we can drive him out.

A trophy is great, but I want to see my team consistently performing in the league too, it’s the bread and butter. Being a solid hard to beat side, winning and performing consistently, challenging for the top 4. Tactically outsmarting opponents, not being battered by Everton Leicester and Ipswich. Let alone Chelsea and Woolwich routinely.

What you don’t seem to grasp is it doesn’t have to be a trophy or top 6. Fuck, even if Ange had finished 10th or 12th and won the trophy he’d have kept his job for another season. But record losses and lowest points tally? He had to go.

It’s really not hard to understand that winning the Europa league does not give you a divine right to stay on as manager when you’ve been so awful in the league.

Could you imagine Woolwich or Chelsea keeping a manager who finishes 17th in the Premier League? Of course you can’t. They’d be sacked immediately. Why are we any different?

I agree with your reasons that he had to go because of his league results in his second season.

However having so many of your starting eleven out injured for so long not being able to build any momentum because of that for example absolutely reduces the likelihood of getting top 6 and winning a trophy. Context.

Hopefully there'll be far less injuries and the squad gets some experience and depth led by more pragmatic manager at the helm.

The players loved him so much yet they lost 22 times under him in the league and phoned it on for large parts of the season. They took something like 70 points from 60 odd games. Haha. They have some nerve.

Just shows why you should never listen to footballers.

You never let the team tell you who their manager should be. They will always choose the bloke who will let them dial it in, be their mate but who they won’t really have to perform consistently for let alone excel. And I wonder what the players are actually on about when 90% of them delivered such woeful performances under him.

Anyone with two eyes could see Ange was a failure. We’ve been an abomination this season, and all the handwringing now from some fans pretending like we’ve just sacked Bill Nic. Laughable. Embarrassing.

This is a bloke who dragged the team through the mud to 17th with a record breaking amount of losses and lowest points tally in the PL era.

We had to see us routinely roll over against pretty much every side in the league. His tactics were pathetic and clueless.

He was a van der ven goal line clearance away from being the worst manager in Spurs history. For me he still is. He’s just lucky that he won a trophy against some shite sides we were lucky to draw. We shit housed our way to it. But it wasn’t anything other than that. The trophy was in complete isolation to everything else that happened under his management.

And if that wasn’t all, the way he gaslighted the fans, lied to us, made every excuse about his failings, basically would completely contradict himself just to save face and make him look like he’s amazing and none of it is his fault.

Ange is all about himself. And I question why some fans are so bewitched by him, when to me it was quite clear the disdain he had for the fans. Numerous examples of it, like ear cupping the fans, all the runs in with supporters.

I’m sure in his personal life he’s a nice bloke, and he did have his moments which I warmed to him. And maybe in time I’ll like him again now he’s not Spurs manager. But he really was the worst manager I’ve seen In 40+ years being a fan and the fact he won a trophy just shows how unpredictable and random football is. For me he’s right down there with Gross.

I’m so fucking happy he’s gone. I’m really excited about the new season now with CL football and hopefully a manager who actually has a clue. Bring it on.

We did it, we finally got what we wanted. Fair play to the club for absolutely seeing the reality of the situation and acting on it.
I'm amazed the players still respect him. I assume its because he sticks up for them no matter how awful they are and blames anything else.

I’m actually shocked by the amount of sentiments I’ve seen against this move. It’s like people developed instant amnesia about the everything leading up to the final, and are suffering from the worst case of revisionist history I’ve ever seen.

Chris Cowlin and Barnaby Slater are shockingly stupid.

BBC:

'But it had not gone unnoticed that Postecoglou had become increasingly distant from the squad in recent months.

At the start of his reign, the Australian would regularly have breakfast - certainly at away games - with the rest of his team.

Recently, however, his obligatory ham and cheese toastie had been delivered to his room by a member of staff.

On those away trips, it had been known for him not to be visible around the team hotel until noon.

As a result, some players started taking issues they'd usually approach Postecoglou with to other members of the backroom team'

Disappointed, but we all expected this to happen.

All of the togetherness, momentum and euphoria from the cup final win has been immediately wiped from the dressing room and Spurs are back to square one.

Ive never seen such an outpouring of emotion from a group of players and, I expect Levy will be receiving a number of transfer requests in the coming weeks.

Just as we sacked Poch after getting us to champs league final - Levy now has $$$ in his eyes.

Ange will have no issue finding another job and like I have said, I fully expect him to be lifting the premier league title soon. In the short term.....it wouldn't surprise me to see him manging at the World Cup next year.

Ange gone
Romero gone
Son gone
Porro gone

Back to square one.

No- we’ll certainly improve from 17th. Just as you asked us all to get behind the team and manager, I ask you now to show some humility and do the same. Quit whining about a manager that presided over our worst Prem campaign in decades. And disabuse yourself of any naive notions that there was anything romantic about it.

Some players may feel a little sorry for him but I don’t think there will be a revolt as some papers over here in Oz are saying. Think they’ll get behind whoever is the new coach. It was a hard decision to make for Levy but I think all up the right one. Europa is an excellent cup to win but it’s not as difficult a task under this new format.

Ange showed he can play more pragmatic in the cup and should have done so earlier in the season especially when injuries mounted. It’s almost like his insecurity and desire to prove he fits played against him in the end

Mate your thoughts regarding players commitment to managers is a bit naive . Romero may well go but not because of Ange getting sacked , he'll go for himself . Got no idea why you think the other 2 or any of the other players would go either .
Footballers and professional sportsmen in general are mercenary as .

His message was nice. Good luck to him. Now that he's left with grace I'll remember those first 10 weeks, how exhilarating that insane swashbuckling match against Chelsea was, and Bilbao. The rest is water under the bridge.

Wonder what trophy he'll win and for whom in 2026.
