The club isn't the managerial burial ground that we as fans tend to think that it is.

We're a steady European presence based in London that tends to pay our managers well. We'll always be able to attract decent names. And even during the 17 year trophy drought, our managers that failed to break it always landed on their feet afterwards so it isn't like we are some form of career killer. Poch got the PSG job, Jose the Roma job, Nuno had to rehab a bit in Saudi before landing at Forest and Conte obviously went to Napoli. Even Sherwood got the Villa job.

We look at being Spurs manager like the long suffering fans that we are, managers look at it from the perspective of a job.
This is true, and plus there's not really a club of our financial stature in Europe that hasn't shown a willingness to have a very quick hook for a manager if the vibes aren't right.

The thing that's unique about Tottenham and Levy is the way that a whole new "project" arrives every two years, pretending new personnel are going to square the circle of Levy's overinvolvement and underinvestment.

But to a manager it's all the same contract buyout money.

What they don't understand is that the man they are signing up to work for will never ever as long as he lives engage in a sporting and competitive mentality, and for lifelong sportsmen like football managers, they don't even understand that they aren't even speaking the same language as this guy.

When the rubber meets the road Levy will betray them like he has betrayed all the others. He will deny them that sliver of financial backing every single other club on earth would give them.

That's where the wages to turnover gap comes from. It's not some big dramatic difference in the way of dealing, it's in insisting on staying that last little bit short in every decisive moment.

It's a poisonous and disgraceful way of operating, and every manager we've ever had has felt its wrath.

Best post of the thread. By some distance 👏👏

Interesting stat in the face of the grief we get for apparently changing manager so often.

Since AVB got the job here (start of 2012/13) we're about to get our 7th manager
(AVB, Intertim, Poch, Jose, Nuno, Conte, Postecoglou)

Equally, Brentford will be looking for their 7th
(Rosler, Warburton, Dijkhuizen, Carsley, Smith, Frank, ....)

Brighton are on their 7th
(Poyet, Garcia, Hyypia, Hughton, Potter, De Zerbi, Hurzeler)

Man United are currently on their 8th (exl. van nistelrooy)
(Ferguson, Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Solskjaer, Ragnick, Ten Hag, Amorim)

Villa are on their 8th
(Lambert, Sherwood, Garde, Di Matteo, Bruce, Smith, Gerrard, Emery)

Everton are on their 10th
(Moyes, Martinez, Koeman, Allardyce, Silva, Ancelloti, Benitez, Lampard, Dyche, Moyes)

Wolves are on their 10th
(Solbakken, Saunders, Jackett, Zenga, Lambert, Nuno, Lange, Lopetegui, O'Neill, Pereira)

Chelsea are on their 11th
(Di Matteo, Benitez, Mourinho, Hiddink, Conte, Sarri, Lampard, Tuchel, Potter, Pochettino, Maresca)

etc.

So why do the media label us like we're constantly changing (but never the ones above really) and why do our own fans persist with that narrative?

My mate, who lives in a tent outside Hotspur Way, told me there's nothing happening down there today and he sent me a photo to prove it.

I'm glad we got a decent 4231 manager that can change to 3 at the back if we need to get a result.

First thing that needs sorting is winger and CM. Do we even have any player that is good in a double pivot?

Arguably Bentancur, but he has been so so since injury.

Bergvall, Gray, Bissouma??? Have we actually sold Hojberg? Cos he is probably our best guy as a 6.

This guy needs to get off to a lighting start otherwise the knives will be out nice and early. Levy needs to back him.
Wonder what the club / levy statement will be about playing style and the Tottenham ‘wat’ this time. As many have said Frank isn’t ultra defensive but in the PL his been mainly known for a more counter attack style or perceived to be. Anyway let’s see what he can do can he coach a more structured team which can defend and attack in equal measure. One thing I’m concerned about would be his choice of players. Mbeuo defo go for him but we need an eze type or just out bid city for cherki. But would these be frank type players. He must know we can’t just be a functional team it has to have some element of flair. He needs to look at the poch and Harry blueprint ts and go one better.

Go abroad and the list gets even longer.

The average managerial job lasts about 16 months. The teams that rarely change managers are usually the ones that win trophies regularly. Or Woolwich who just don't like changing managers for some reason.
