Management Thomas Frank

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It's actually shocking, isn't it?
Some have ended up at bigger/better clubs, but i can't think of a single manager to have been taken from us?

But then again, that's the difference between is and where our managers have come from.
We've taken the likes of Redknapp, Poch, Hoddle, Frank, etc from from the Pompey, Southampton, Brentford level clubs.
Once you hit Spurs the only way up is typically the "mega clubs" like United, Spanish Duo, Bayern, maybe Chavs but couldn't see many coaches swapping to them from us without the sack.

It's not like Liverpool, United Arse, even Chelsea have had their managers poached either when you think about it.
Don't think too much, its obviously a bit too foreign for you!

Couldn’t relate more. Has felt like a nightmare under Ange. Like being taken over by a tin pot dictator.

Tear the (thankfully non existent) statues down and wipe clean the slate - someone normal is in charge.
The clown, nightmare, tip-pot dictator, fat Greek cunt etc. who brought us our first European trophy in 41 years.

I'm happy with the change, 100% behind Frank, glad it was done with a minimum of fuss, excited about what the future might hold and so forth, but the endless bile heaped upon Postecoglou is ridiculous, vile at times (the FGC thing for example, whoever posted that should be ashamed of themselves).

Mate the day-to-day with him was absolutely fucking unbearable. It was basically constant panic of “which one of our players has done his hamstring now”, “will Ange change his tactics or will we continue to concede the same goal for the 100th time”, “could we actually get relegated”? Worst part was how we were continuously gaslit that things were actually going well.

I’m happy about the trophy it’s one of the best nights of my life. But from August 13th-May 20th, that was easily the worst year of Spurs football in my entire life. Getting battered and embarrassed in over half our league games was frustrating and humiliating. I hated almost every week of it, and if we’re being honest, so did just about everyone aside from the Ange cultists.

We managed to go from 5th to 17th in 1 season so my logic says we can also go from 17th for 5th :frankarms:

This is what those who laid all the blame at the door of the players need to look at. Those exact same players all managed 5th in 2023/2024.
There are "fans" saying they're all shit and no matter who the coach is we will finish 8th or lower.
But they DID finish 5th. One less fuck up and it would have been 4th, too.
So they're chatting shit. The squad is capable of pushing that top 4/5 positions. We just need to manage players better and stop asking them to sprint 50 yards from standstill 5 times a match.

Agree

Let’s move on and if comments about Ange must be made do it on the appropriate thread and not, for instance, on the Thomas Frank one

Perhaps Admin Admin could merge all Ange threads?

I have never called him that but I reserve the right to not like him as a bloke and to have hated almost every second of his time in charge.

I caveat that with yes, he did win the trophy, but I view that in context that I won’t go over as it’s been done to death.

You’re welcome to remember him fondly - I won’t, I will remember the cupping the ear to the fans, the embarrassing press moments, the ego which showed every five seconds..

Frank is much more my speed - measured, intelligent and a gentleman by all accounts. I’m happy he’s at the helm.

If I'm Levy and I'm hiring a manager, after last season, this is my standard requirements.

Overarching requirements
To manage the squad effectively - IE, moving out unwanted players and agree on incoming positions providing assessment of what positions need to be filled.
Development of youth players and provide pathway for those good enough to the 1st team.

League season
MINIMUM of of a top 10 - finish with the ultimate goal of being in the top 4.
MINIMUM of 20% reduction of goals conceded. 65 is a joke and totally unacceptable.
To see an improvement (all factors considered) in the PPG. A bad start will be tolerated if there is a sign of improvement. This is a 2 way deal whereby the board will not act too soon in the season AKA, do a Nuno.

League Cup - has to be seen as winnable given many rivals do not go full strength
FA Cup - similar to above, not necessarily as well as but alternative to...
Champions League - manage squad effectively, ideally make it through the league phase. Everything thereafter is a bonus. Let's be serious, this is Europes premier competition and will be tough. We're not playing plodders from the north pole.

I know you weren't responsible for the FGC comment, wasn't suggesting you were. But it was disgusting, nonetheless. And of course, you can dislike or like who you wish, and change your mind too, obviously.

I don't know if I remember him "fondly", beyond Bilbao and a sparse few other brief moments. But I imagine that in a few years' time it'll be the UEFA Cup I remember most, not the god awful league games.

Well you're not Levy, and nobody fucking asked you.
