Think Solanke is average, but could be good enough not to be a weakness if the talent around him were brought up to standard.

This seems like your typical journo story where anyone can put 2+2 together.

Mbeumo is a cracking player, but spunking 70 mill of our budget on him doesn't make a lot of sense. Our wide attacking players are not a squad weakness.

Need Eze or another creative profile.

But if Frank really does want Mbeumo here, i'm all for supporting the new boss

Are you mental? Not a weakness?

Son: Finished at the elite level
Johnson: back post tap in merchant offers 0 elsewhere
Tel: raw and shown very little in his first spell
Odobert: injury prone and shown very little
Moore: a kid not ready for PL

Not a single one of our wide forwards gets close to featuring for last season's top 6-8 teams.

It should absolutely be the focus of our window. Hopefully Mbuemo links show the club agree.

Son is in decline, Johnson is a good but has quite a bit of limitations, Tel is a second striker, Odobert is still green and Moore is only 17.

We don’t have an elite forward. Mbeumo is mixing it with the very best in the league.

We do need a DM and a creative AM and we need to be willing to make the sales to get the right quality but having an elite finisher from anywhere like Mbeumo will win us games, probably a good deal of games. I would be happy with just 3 signings this summer a DM, AM and Mbeumo.

I know XG is stats and that is bit controversial but he is the biggest over performer in the league. Meaning he is the best finisher in the prem for last season. Does mean he will always be that but it’s a great sign as opposed to someone like Maupey who couldn’t finish his dinner.

I heard from Brenford fans that ,Frank and their club was looking at Johnson as a striker than a RW (back when they were interested to take him from Forest). Tbf, he is more of a striker material than winger for me. I cant see any qualities in him to be playing from left especially.

If we move Richy on, bring Mbemo & Tel, can see Johnson moved to the middle....
No chance you see Brennan playing striker for a PL team except maybe as part of a 2 up front, but even then his skillset is entirely based around finding a yard of space for a instinctive finish, the more time you give Brennan to line up a shot the worse it seems to get. Playing him centrally in a congested area of the pitch with physically bigger and stronger players to get past and having to play with his back to goal far more often is asking him to play to almost every weakness he has as a player. I don't believe Frank sees him as a striker at all, far more likely he was planning to move Wissa centrally and use Brennan on the left IMO.

I think Johnson and Tel are both second strikers, neither are elite dribblers and neither are hold up players like a striker, I think Tel or Johnson in a free Dele Ali type role would bring the best out of them. As you say Johnson is great at finding space and a good finisher but he is a limited winger.

A second striker needs to be able to create for himself, make runs from central areas and be able to strike the ball well. Johnson has not got that. Dele was class at all of those

I think you would need to see far more from Johnson to consider it worthwhile to play him as a 10 tbh, I think if you compare what Maddison does for the team when playing at his best vs the best case scenario of Johnson taking his place in a free role a lá Dele you lose out far more from not playing Maddison IMO. I genuinely think his best position for us would be on the left, in a few of his very early appearances for us I remember him starting on the left and leaving a very good impression on me, particularly as he seems more comfortable running at a full back if hes able to cut in onto the FB's weaker foot.

It’s absolutely a weakness: Johnson is ideally a supersub, Son is on his last legs, jury’s still out on Odobert and Tel and imo Kulu is simply too slow to ever be an elite winger and that’s why he’s probs best at that number 10 spot.

Yeah you know how to get the best of our forward group? You get someone who can get them the ball in space. We have a bunch of wide forwards who do well once they’re behind.

This team is way too reliable on Madders. People are severely undervaluing Maddison’s importance.

Eze not only makes the squad better by his arrival. He makes the other players around him better too.

I didnt say no9... As a second striker Johnson is perfect. And Frank does employ 2 forwards up top
Btw, where does this idea of Johnson on left comes from ? He has never played well in that position

Personally would be shocked if we got Eze tbh. Palace rarely ever sell their best players, the last I can remember was Bolasie and that was when £30m was like £50m. They’re always pretty ready to give new contracts to them as well, it’s part of the reason they managed to not wash out in the league when they were basically just Zaha and Friends.
