Be a real shame if we don't get him. I think he'd have a massive impact in this team.

Grit, vision, long and short passing and an eye for goal, and great work ethic.

A real team player.

Similar qualities to Stevie G imo. Not quite as good obviously but he's a very, very good player.

It would be shame, but we also can't allow it to hold up the rest of our summer. Switch focus to other target areas and let the legal team deal with this.

The longer it plays out the worse it'll get for Forest. The player could sue for loss of earnings, Wolves could sue for loss of sell on fee and the agent could sue for neglect of contract.

It’s a very bizarre situation.

What I would say though is I think it’s very naive to assume we have acted 100% correctly here either.

If it was a case that we had activated a release clause completely correctly and done nothing wrong, we would without question have briefed the media to that effect. The fact no club mouthpiece has come out with that would say to me that it’s not that straightforward.

Forest still haven't complained about us BTW, if we have done shady business then they'd be some sort of complaint, no?

And I mentioned this before, no-one has come out and commented because Forest haven't even come out and commented themselves, they're briefing the media so why would we comment on speculation?

It's absolutely mad that Forest have been going around soliciting 70M bids for a player with a 60M release clause (maybe that happens more than we realize and we just never hear about it?) but it does indicate that FOREST were operating under the belief that the clause was secret.

Did Gibbs-White or his agent spill the beans out of frustration at that practice?

This sucks, it's an absolute shitshow, but the bottom line is Gibbs-White must raise loud, ugly, bitter hell to escape this situation, and instead he's in training with his teammates.

We've got no deal here. The Fat Greek won. Move on.

Borson's claim that us asking MGW's agent "what do we need to bid here to get the player?" (around the 8:30 mark) is borderline inducement is ridiculous. Surely that's just a standard first question you'd ask of any agent about any player of interest under any set of circumstances; it doesn't imply any foreknowledge of a release clause nor does it imply intent to induce a breach of confidence.

A lot of interesting and relevant stuff here in the PL rulebook, but just to note, in the standard player contract which all clubs and players must use (subject to addition and modification I'm sure, but still)

This contract is to be treated as being private and confidential and its contents shall not be disclosed or divulged either directly or indirectly to any person firm or company whatsoever either by the Club the Player or any Football Agent of the Club or the Player except:
16.1 with the prior written agreement of both the Club and the Player;

To be honest I think a 'secret release clause' is a load of bollocks. Why and how can a clause be secret? Any club could just call up and Forest could turn around and say 'He's not for sale'. Then it just gets as messy because MGW would file a legal complaint against the club.

I don't see how this ends up in court at all. The only way to prove Spurs came about it illegally is if Spurs reached out to the agent first and asked for specific details of the clause. If they did then it's idiotic from Spurs, and thats not something Levy or the club would do. It stinks of Marinakis trying to save face and being more angry at his own club and agent than Spurs.

Borderline inducement....dear lord :franklol:

Funny how Marinakis isn't mentioned on Forests board, chairman or directors at all. If he put his shares in a blind trust, is he truly allowed to be involved?

Which would—if this the standard form of words—make all release clauses confidential

You are proving my point. There's no way he was ever going to sign a new contract.
Your point was Kane saying he wouldn't play for Ange.
So no, I didn't prove your point.
How have Forest "done Crystal Palace super dirty"?
Grassed Palace up for having dual ownership when the same applies to your lot.

As with almost all transfers. It's speculation at best.
Unless there's a photo in the "explosive letter" akin to Ashley Cole meeting Mourinho for dinner.
