I mean that's not clear at all.
And again to be clear, we cannot have violated an agreement we are not a party to.

It seems that Forest's argument is that our bid proves that confidential information was shared with us by MGW's side, and that it having been shared with us proves contact with the player prior to having the required permission.

Those arguments both seem fairly weak, but the allegation against us is definitely the weaker of the two.

Just seems strange that's all. If we have done everything above board then carry on, complete the deal. If forest stop us despite doing it by the book then we do the complaining, not them.
As I keep saying, we can't do it alone, we need MGW to forcefully assert his contractual rights and he's not doing so.

We can't do that because Forest are holding it up :D

There hasn't even been an official statement by Forest, they're just briefing the media.

Media are reporting that they're pissed about the confidentiality has been breached which I don't know how we can get blamed for that and the approach which is probably the fact that we spoke to him before we spoke to Forest but literally every single transfer gets done like that these days, can't even call it tapping up, that term is dated.

I really don’t see this transfer working out. Let’s move on and get our remaining business done. Fuck head can have an angry MGW who doesn’t want to be there and will run his contract out.

You must be real easy to play cards against. I say he leaves Forest this window. With the chances he comes to Spurs 80% the likelihood he stays at Forest is slim to none. He had a contract with a realse clause, it's been triggered, if they say we approached him illegally the onus would be on them to prove it. Not shout about it prove it. If they had this they'd have already briefed a friendly journalist that they are strapped. They haven't. Gibbs-white will insist he wants to leave they get a replacement and then they will sell him.
Reading through the lines, the release clause probably specifies "greater than 60m" and we probably bid £60,000,001.

I think ultimately his desire to come to Tottenham will prevail over his desire to leave Forest amicably.

Funny how people are complaining about this rumbling on.

It's only been going a few days ffs. And some want us to walk away because they're bored of it lol.

If it takes a few weeks to get done so be it, he'll be worth it. Hopefully gets done sooner but in no way should we just give up on the deal.

What, is Levy made of money?

60,000,000.01 :levylol:

To be clear, the rule is still clear, and in force, and same as it ever was.

Clubs and agents have a manner of operating around the rule, it's not that it's just not enforced.

It's a great example of how silly and fickle fans are. They're addicted to the dopamine rush and if they can't get timely updates on demand they're ready to fuck everything off and call for someone's scalp.

Yeah this is where Forest can get us but then again it sets a bad precedent if their complaint is upheld due to that because anyone would then be able to say that their player has been approached illegally and then potentially take a complaint to the Premier League.

I'm sure the precedents have been noted somehere in this thread, but the Christian Ziege Midds to Liverpool transfer was very similar.

Liverpool met the release clause. Middlesbrough argued illegal approach and breach of clause confidentiality, complained to PL. Deal went through with a small fine for Liverpool.

So if MGW wants to see this through I think he can, as these clauses are intended to be binding, and Forest haven't even disputed that. Instead they've tried to block the deal the only way they can. But the Midds precedent suggests this alone is unlikely to prevent the transfer.

The way the deal falls apart is if MGW backs down/changes his mind. Marinakis could offer a lot of cash.
