I think he didn't.
The EUFA cup in the past was pretty much as hard to win as the old European Cup. One would have Real, the other Barca. One Celtic, the other Rangers. Whoever finished 2nd in Italy, Germany, Portugal. Around the time we won it beating Anderlecht, Forest won the European cup against the mighty Malmö. El Tel's Barca blew it v Steua Bucharest. When we won it previously we met Inter Milan in the semis.
Anyway..
That last iteration of the Europa Cup - there were Spurs fans who booked flights and hotels in Bilbao LAST SEPTEMBER when it was clear it was 90% minnows and we were favourites even then. MU 2nd faves, and they'd kept that clown Ten Hag after the flukiest FA cup win that I can remember, and I've been watching finals since 1967. We lucked out big time with the draw. Bodo in the semis and avoiding MU and Atletic Bilbao. And lucking out that MU beat them too. We couldn't even get the better of fucking Rangers FFS. Far from it, they were the better team that night, no question.
Finally did he win it? Really?
Why do you think his "tactics" were thrown out the window in Europe? Nothing to do with the players declaring UDI and saying this is how we do it boss? I wouldn't out it past Levy to tell him to wise up as the winner would get CL next season.
The route to the final? I'd say Eintracht was the only decent team we faced. The home tie was a really good performance. Only 1-1 but we hit the woodwork 3 times, very unlucky. But every other game was either against minnows or a poor performance.
The final? That's the worst winning match I've seen us play in 60 years. Delighted at the win of course, but it got us out of jail big time. And no way could we use that as a blueprint to beat teams in the PL which is the best measure of how good we are.
The league position tells you how good you are over 9 months. Cups might only tell you how easy a route you have.
