No argument there, but you probably need a DM that is a bit less destroyer and a bit more technical than Palhinha. Doesn't have to be Pirlo.

I guess here is where we have to agree to disagree :) .

Maybe I am too oldschool or just maybe our recent options to DM/CM have been too much of jacks-of-all-trade, but I'd like to have someone to be a real DM-maniac. In shape of Wanyama. He was not technically gifted either, but I enjoyed how he just stopped some of the opposition attacks with slight nudge of his shoulder ;) .

That's what they told us when it looked like we dropped 60m on MGW after spending 55m on Kudus because it was so unbelievable we would do it.

Meanwhile

Woolwich dropping 65m on Gyokeres, 55m on Zubimendi, 55m on Madueke, 12m on Nogaard and 13m on Mosquero.

United dropping 63m on cunha and 71m on Mbuemo.

Chelsea dropping 60m on Pedro, 60m in Gittens, 30m on Delap, 30m on Estevao, 20m on Essugo and about to drop another 70m on Simons.

Liverpool dropping 120m on Writz, 40m on Kerkez, 35m on Frimpong, 70m on Ekiteke.

They've done such a number on us that they make us feel like we are lucky we would spend that sum on 2 players when our rivals are doing it regularly and nobody bats an eyelid.

There was no investment. I said so at the time. Only the hopeful and morons believed it.

What are we moaning about today then?

Exactly. Sounds like the same guesswork we've had for years now re investment.

It's now been 12 days since Forest pulled the rug out, and we're no closer to MGW or any other signing.

Who? Nothing like that came from the club IIRC.

If you think it was so wildly inconceivable that we spend 150-odd million before sales; you haven't paid attention for the last few years.
I don't remember us dropping two significant sums of money for 2 actual starters that would demand somewhat high wages since maybe Ndombele and Lo Celso (and we managed that by loaning Lo Celso initially).

Correct me if I'm wrong?

People need to own the fact that they routinely allow themselves to be led such such a merry dance by a bunch of twitter horseshit.
The investment talk wasn't just twitter talk, it was also being reported by journalists.

You're missing the point anyway. I'm saying that it's so far fetched to think/believe we would spend that amount of money on 2 starters that the general consensus from social media/journalists was that we've had a cash investment ffs.

Christ that puts it in perspective. Yet there were memes last week about someone in the club getting hold of Levy's credit card and passwords. Unbelievable.

But we want to win the PL and the CL

The ENIC scam just rolls on

Correct me if that's what I said.
I'm asking you a direct question and that's your response?

"If you think it was so wildly inconceivable that we spend 150-odd million before sales; you haven't paid attention for the last few years."

You said the above which is correct but you've misunderstood what I was initially saying.

We don't sign 2 first team starters with a big transfer fee and big wages. When it looked like it finally happened it was believed we had investment such is the rarity of us doing it.

The investment talk wasn't just twitter talk, it was also being reported by journalists.

We hear that shit virtually every summer (just like the annual "Spurs must sell before they can afford to buy" story from The Athletic)...... Even most so-called journo's are just glorified click merchants these days.

Baffling how so few recognise that even now.

Regardless; you're responsible for what conclusions your imagination leads you to.....

People could just ease off the throttle and just look at the window as a whole when the dust settles; yet they're seemingly unable to.... Again; that's on them.

It's not inconceivable that MGW gets ironed out even now. And like I said, that'd still only amount to about 150m (gross) which is not unprecedented.

When the dust settles, the window will look like every other ENIC window, both underwhelming but also overhyped

Yes.... Seeing as you didn't acknowledge my former point before now; it was a perfectly reasonable one too?

We signed Maddison & Johnson in the same window for circa 100m.

MGW & Kudus would be circa 115m

Again; not inconceivable the way fees are spiraling across the board each season.

How much the latter 2's wages would be; I currently have no idea.... Can't even recall seeing Kudus new wage reported, let alone MGWs.
