I was suggesting to another poster that it was extremely unlikely that Levy woke up on Deadline Day, got Alexa to phone Steve Parish and shouted “£70m for Guehi” down the phone without there being some kind of prior contact.

The fighting is over whether Levy is making a serious effort to improve the 17th place club, and money spent to bring in new players is one way to measure the seriousness of that effort.

If nothing else the money spent on Tel and Danso could have been devoted to the transfer of someone who was not already part of that 17th place finish. It's questionable how either of those moves make the squad better or how we'd be any worse if we didn't have them.

The actions we see in this window so far are those of a chairman who's repeating all his past mistakes, changing the manger and not the players and expecting the manager to turn water to wine

You have a higher opinion of the man than I . I believe he is very capable of getting involved in deals he has zero intention of executing. The third party deals that he flirted with could NEVER have gone through and he knew it . If he didn’t he is a fucking moron is my view on it

The strength at the top carries the day for them, as it did in real life.

Kane had 1 PL assist that season starting all 38 games. He was brilliant, but he wasn't yet the player that was coming.

The only one of our starting XI that peaked that season was probably Toby. You could argue for Walker, Lloris and Dele too I suppose. Rose was injured for some of that season, as was Dembele.

2016-17 was definitely a better squad, but alas the fates of time were against us.

We had a better squad but they had a full season of being single minded on the prem and momentum and belief carried by a genuinely world class trio of players who stayed fit all season long. Kante was superhuman.

Ok, I can get behind we let down AVB by not getting it done. I seem to recall the club thought Moutinho’s data was a bit ropey and we signed Dembele instead (no complaints here), before going back in, for some reason, late in the window. Maybe AVB threw his toys out, so we tried to pacify him, but was too late? As I said before, fuck knows what happened.

How much are they worth now? Getting half our money back would be a result - and even then we would have to find a buyer.

Yeah… which is why we are willing to. If there was real competition I doubt we’d be involved as we won’t compete with the big wages on offer.

MGW is 60m but will probably be on 120k a week or so max whereas there are 60/70m players who will want 220k+. We won’t go for those.

All of our players fit and at their career peaks rinses Leicester, but that wasn't the team we actually rolled out there in 2015-16.

Maybe we're arguing different things.
