Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

All of our players fit and at their career peaks rinses Leicester, but that wasn't the team we actually rolled out there in 2015-16.

Maybe we're arguing different things.

CJJ CJJ is trying to make the point that building a squad takes time and dedication. Well, to take that seriously means to recognize that the tools you have at your disposal at one moment are capable of improving in the next moment.

Are we not improving? I just saw an 18yo CB score and assist in his friendly debut. Apparently last year he, as a 17yo won the Goal of the Year award in the Belgian league with a bicycle kick.

I think that's an improvement. Kudus also improves us, and so will MGW if we ever get him on the roster. We're taking star players from teams which came above us in the league.

Yeah… which is why we are willing to. If there was real competition I doubt we’d be involved as we won’t compete with the big wages on offer.

MGW is 60m but will probably be on 120k a week or so max whereas there are 60/70m players who will want 220k+. We won’t go for those.

He is not a £60m or £200k a week player.
By definition if he was - there would be interest from elsewhere. Forest would love to sell him to someone else.

Maddison was very fair value at £40m. It was between us and Newcastle.

They just won the Club World Cup and are making big money signings left and right. They spend bigger than all the other clubs on that list. Why not?

So?
The fact that their summer was distracted by 3rd rate cup is gonna make them catch up 15 point gap with Liverpool (who have added Writz, Ekiteke, Frimpong and Kerkez - all better than anything Chelseas has hoarded up) ?
On winger department they have actively traded downwards - Madueke in coming season will be better player than Gittens with little doubt, in LT Gittens might have more potential. But we are talking upcoming season here, aren't we?

I mean, Chelsea have picked scattergun approach of buying 18-22 yearolds.
They could very easily finish in 10th place. Though they could as well be top4 side next season.

It is cointoss with them. VERY far from sure thing.

Well again we know that’s not true there was murders when we did nothing for two windows . As I said he has no defence for repeatedly flirting with third party ownership deals , it’s totally disingenuous.

Edit: Funny how he got it done in a matter of hours when Berbatov went up to Utd without permission. Oh wait that was 28 million incoming
Not sure I’m remembering the “no transfer murders” like you are. Yes, the same posters on here that scream murder on everything Levy or ENIC related did go fucking mental (and still do to this day) about that, but that happens no matter what’s going on. The rest of us generally just get on with life without such obsessions.

As for Berbatov, as I said moments ago (but now feels like months ago), there are always going to be expections to the “transfers are difficult” thing. A transfer gets a lot easier to conclude when one of your top players decides to fuck off to a rival and be seen walking through their ground on telly. Tends to focus the mind a bit.

As for third party stuff? You meaning like Dybala? Maybe he has the ego that he thought he could untangle everything and get that done. I imagine there’s definitely some ego there, so can well believe that. Don’t believe he’s doing shit like that to just look busy. All I read on here is how little he cares about the fans, waah, waah. But he seems to care enough to look like he’s trying to sign players when he isn’t actually trying? Seriously?

Anyway Ed Vanderlay if this was two other posters fucking the thread up for everyone by having their own personal beef, I’d be telling them to fuck off to DMs, so I’ll leave it there. 👍

We weren't even expected to qualify for the top 4 in 15/16 and I'm pretty sure we were outside the top 4 after Christmas. Woolwich were actually hot favourites to win the league when welbeck got that last min winner against Leicester but they fell apart after that. We somehow ended up in second and were the only team capable of catching Leicester with 6 games to go. It gets completely missed that we were complete surprise packages that season, because the winners were the biggest surprise package ever.

We were a far better team in 16/17. That was probably where we peaked. Dele Ali was unplayable all season. Unfortunately Chelsea had no Europe and went all out for the league and got 90+ points with a brilliant team. We ran into a top side. Never invested in the squad after that and moved stadiums so were never the same again.

Basically improve what we have we won't spend more hear it every window. Links to a random big name to reel in the fans then say we tried come the 31st Aug.

We want to win the the league and cl it won't happen ever unless we had an owner who spends to get elite players in.

Of course the irony of this is Liverpool went on to win the league after a summer of adding nobody
New coach. Fresh ideas.

Once more.

Success = the things you think are important + the things you’re ignoring

Most people think the first part of the equation is all there is. Like a plumber from Essex or policeman from Hertfordshire understands how to run a football club.
