Palhinha can pass, you don't get to Bayern or the Portuguese national team not being able to pass.

He can pass but that isn't the issue: Hojbjerg could pass the ball but that doesn't tell the full story.

Passing forward consistently, line breaking passes and the timing of passing (as in releasing the ball before the oppo defence is set) is the problem with him, a top player in those positions normally back themselves consistently to pass the ball quick enough to a player between the lines, I think as a modern 6 you need to be a great first time passer or a great ball carrier and I don't think he's good enough in either aspect.

If that happens it makes a mockery of the PL. to trigger a release clause then have no PL league mechanism to enforce it is embarrassing. In Spain if you trigger the league auto enforces.

To be fair it is because the clauses are required and administrated by the league.

The PL doesn't have the same requirement

Wouldnt even need the clause as a requirement, just if one is triggered it happens. I think the league must have thought that all clubs will just act on legal obligation, they somehow didn’t foresee a Greek Donald Trump running a club.

If Romero stays I'd like to see him moved into the 6 position, maybe share that role with Palhinha, depending on the competition.

Van Dijk virtually went on strike to get away from Southampton. Don’t think MGW wants to do that or something would have happened by now.
That plank Arnautovic , wanted away from West Ham so would continually kick the ball, out of play during training. Also stood on the side of the women’s pitch shouting abuse at them and kicking a ball onto the pitch.
Danny Murphy said that Bellamy behaved ridiculously when he wanted away from Liverpool concluding with attacking Riise with a golf club.
One way to sort it is to offer an extra 5m to be paid when we win the league or champ lge!!!
I hear that Mrs P, but this seems to have gotten personal!
Marinakis strikes me as the sort of bloke who would rather cut his nose off to spite his face. Another 5-10m will not solve this transfer dilemma imo.
The only way I feel MGW will get his move to us is to become as much as an arsehole as Marinakis, and refuse to play and train stating breach of contract by Forest by not abiding by the release clause in his contract, forcing the issue to a tribunal and getting everything on the table, out in the open.

Any lose of earnings or transfer bonus to MGW by taking this stance could be factored in his 4-5 year contract with us.

Just a thought!

I don't think he looked out of place in the Portugal team when I've watched him and was brilliant for Fulham. He isn't a 'quarterback' style holding mid obviously but I feel he's very good at recycling it quickly and I feel we've got the players around him that suit that side (especially if MGW comes). Probably someone we were absolutely desperate for under Ange. Palhinha deep with MGW/Maddison either side would be incredible imo.

MGW will be advised by his very experienced agents and they will keep Spurs informed/take instruction from us.

Palhinha in a double pivot will be a decent option under Frank
He's fine as a single pivot as well. Exceptionally good player but there is a valid concern.

The Dm drop off when they get to a certain age isn't coincidental. It's a position that requires a lot of running so there will inevitably be a drop off. If it comes after 2 good seasons then that's money well spent, if it comes before well...

I think he would be a good addition and a very good addition in the short term, I'm just looking at the drawbacks with him, the same way Woolwich had the issue with Rice as their 6, we'd be facing more or less a similar issue with him in that position.

It's a minute detail but it's an important detail because it often gets overlooked.
