So do we think the club will go big on a Son replacement this window?

A proper ambitious club should. You wouldn't see Liverpool failing to replace Salah.

We could easily afford 70 million on a top LW this window. I find it difficult to accept the club has announced Son is leaving, and then we line up with Odobert or Johnson at LW on the first day of the season.

And that's no slight on those two player but they are a different level.

And even forgetting the football reasons. For purely PR reasons, we have no superstars now. You can't let someone like that walk out the door, and then just say "we are just going to develop youth and hopefully in a a few years time we'll have another superstar".

Big clubs needs superstars, even for commericial reasons.
The reason we ended up with Son, Kane, Dele, etc is because we developed young players though.

While I think we need another 23-25-year-old attacker this summer, the truth is this club does better making stars rather than buying them. That’s just the way it is until we pay as much wages as the other big clubs.

If Liverpool lost Son equivalent (let's say Salah), do you think they wouldn't sign a replacement?

They'd have signed him before he was off. And his replacement would literally be Salah 2.0.

We of course, pump up Brennan.

You can easily argue that signing a young winger that people thought was a mistake from a German team is something we've just repeated earlier this summer...

Funny feeling we go for grealish on loan. Pay 200k a week and city pay the other 100k! I could be totally wrong but feels like that could end up being the best outcome for all parties.

Short term cover and experience while the club wait for some of these young players to get up to speed!

No club in world football is willing to pay grealish 300k a week so city have to compromise or else he stays.

Unfortunately, your fifth paragraph is exactly what I’m expecting.

I’m sure the others can defend themselves. From my perspective I have been proud to support Spurs through the good and bad of our history . Taking a massive dump on Levy and ENIC and all they stand for is not shitting on the club . The club and its fans were here long before ENIC and will be long after they have sold up . I do not like Levy as in my opinion he is disingenuous and I genuinely find him creepy , as for Lewis, well I simply don’t have time to list the reasons I dislike him . Could I turn a blind eye to these character traits if they invested and showed ambition , in all honesty yes . I say this because i could stomach us being bought out by Qatar quite easily . However should the Qataris for example run the club like ENIC for 25 years I dare say I would bitch about them .

The owner is NOT the club , although the way some on here defend them means not everyone makes that distinction.
I find it strange fans defending Levy and ENIC as if they are the club , they most definitely are not . The fans are way way more emotionally invested in the club than these clowns will ever be . That is my opinion and I have every right to voice it as often as I wish . Just as the defence force has every right to see an attack on Levy as an attack on the club, no matter how weird that’s seems to me
I noticed that you posted a glowing post in Son’s thread whilst other anti Levy posters did not. Being anti Levy should not stop positive posts in other threads.

I totally agree. I love the club and everything bar the ownership about it . There have been some players not fit to tie Sonny’s bootlaces in terms of ability that are still heroes of mine .

Edit : check out my posts when we won the EL , I was like a five year old at Xmas

Mo need to panic , Frank got it sorted .

Thomas Frank on his options to replace Son on the left...

"When a player is leaving a team, other players have a chance to shine. Brennan Johnson has played on the left, Wilson Odobert did well there against Woolwich, Mathys Tel can as well."

If we genuinely go into this season and we have CL remember, with Odobert and Johnson as our wide left attacking options, fucking hell. That is even without the optics of how unambitious it looks to the fans and outsiders after losing Son.

It will just say it all about Levy and the ownership.

Would be absolutely fucking dismal. You would never ever see one of our rivals in the top 6 do that. On the contrary, United have signed Cunha and Mbuemo. Chelsea have about 8 elite attackers and still want Xavi and Garnacho. Woolwich want Eze.

Johnson and Odobert are nothing more than bench warmers for an elite club. Again that's not doing them down. If they prove this season that they can reach the heights of being that type of player, fantastic, but to go in to this season relying on them as first choice. No thanks.

TBF he has got a good track record of making average players look pretty good in the front three

He has, but that was for Brentford's level. For us, let's give him better players and let him improve those.

He can still improve Odobert and Johnson, but he can do it from a place where they are squad options, not bonafide first choice.
