Ex-Spurs Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Has there been a better spurs signing ?
For other reasons, I'd say Ginola.

In my Spurs supporting lifetime imo there have only been 7 real Tottenham legends. That includes longevity, the way they conduct themselves and ability. Son is definitely in there with Jennings, Perryman, Hoddle, Ardiles, Mabbutt and Kane.

What a signing and top bloke. Sorry to see him go but the time is right. Typical Sonny, he even got that decision spot on.

I think what madders said in that interview is what means the most to me and is what makes Son so special.

For me it's not about his footballing skills which would take me ages to write what I truly think but most have covered it here already.

The most poignant point about Heung-Min Son is how he conducts himself as a person.

I know people who aren't remotely interested in football but know about Son and often comment in the way he comes across as a person. We live in an age where with social media kids and adults too pick up on the minutae of global superstars. But there hasn't been a single incident on or off the pitch involving Son that has been even remotely controversial. (andre gomes was accidental, even andre admitted it but some stupid Everton fans still go on about it).

None of us are able to comprehend the pressure this man carries on a daily basis. He puts his entire nation on his shoulders and now because of his status the rest of the world expects so much from him and yet his humbleness, humility and kindness shines through every day and most importantly does it with a smile on his face.

And credit has to be given to his family for that, his dad, mum and brother have instilled discipline which is typical of their culture but also to do it with such a human touch is what makes Sonny unique.
For youngsters and adults too for that matter watching celebrities and idolising individuals, personally I don't think anyone comes close to Sonny. If you want a role model to look up to, Son is head and shoulders above the rest. If people can emulate even a fraction of his humanistic values the world would be a better place.

I was there in Bilbao, and not many things have given me pure, unbridled satisfaction as watching Sonny lift that trophy. I screamed at the top of my voice in the same way he did and every other Spurs fan watching. A greedy part of me wants to see him do it again in Udine for the Super Cup, and then for him to walk out to a guard of honour and tifo, with the Europa League trophy in one hand and the Super cup in the other hand on the first day of the season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

고맙습니다, 소니
👏👏👏👏

Have taken a break from football - including this place - over the summer so just catching up with things again.

Son has been an immense servant to the club and been the integral part of our heart and soul over recent years. I was lucky enough to meet him in the 2015/16 season (can’t believe that’s a decade ago) at the TC and he was just full of joy and enthusiasm at training and the surely incredibly boring media / sponsor duties afterwards. A lovely guy at that young age and he’s grown into a great man since then.

So many great and memorable goals from him, especially for me against the goons and manure. His partnership with Kane was great to see. And he was successful in Poch teams, in Mou teams, even in Nuno teams. Carried us at times. But there’s only so much that one player can carry on their shoulders for so long.

The relief we all saw when we finally won the EL was a reflection of how we all felt, but I also recognise that enough is enough, and the poor man deserves a new opportunity away from the weirdness and pressure of THFC. Hope he has an amazing few years in the US, playing with more freedom, making more dough, and maybe finally finding a good woman to have lots of fun - and family - with.

Nice one Sonny.

Yes, it’s garbage. The “he can’t cut it here anymore because it the toughest in the world” is so lame. Sonny can’t perform at the level we have expected from him at any of the top leagues in the world, like LaLiga, Serie A, and the Bundesliga.

There are multiple leagues that are very challenging for different reasons. Palinha was a monster in the EPL but did very poorly on the best club in the Bundesliga.

La Liga is extremely technical and tactical. Even the worst teams in that league “play” with the ball. They typically don’t huff it up and try to play like the lower level EPL sides.

The Bundesliga is also very physical and tactical.

Serie A is very technical and tactical, but not as much as LaLiga.

They’re all tough!
My statement wasn't so much that Sonny can't cut it here because he's in the toughest league, but just an outright statement that it is the toughest league.

In the last 10 years there have been 7 different teams in the top two of the premier league, in La Liga there's been 3. Germany and Italy have had 6 teams each, however you wouldn't say that Schalke, Stuttgart, Roma or Lazio would get anywhere near our top 4.

I could have said the Premier League is the most competitive, but that's just semantics really.

Very very sad, but I understand. I'll always love him, absolutely a Spurs legend in my eyes. Love you Sonny boy 💖

When I turned 30 my stepsister got me a picture to hang on the wall of my favourite players, Son, Kane, Lucas and Rose. Now they're all gone 😭
