Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well, Son is one outgoing tbf. Few players out on loan.

Big ones for permanent outs are Bissouma, Solomon, Romero, Richarlison (in terms of things that are supposed to happen based on media links), but it's mostly a big pile of midfielders we need to filter through

I think the only outgoing we se now will be bissouma.
Im fairly sure frank wants to keep richy around for now. I think romero will stay but not commit and most likely leave next summer. Ben Davies will also probably stay.

He started 22 league games for them last season, came off the bench in 8 and would likely see a similar number of starts next season so that's a bit of a disingenuous assessment of his playing time, he may be keen to move but certainly not here. However much we want to manifest it players around the world would probably view us in the same light as Villa, Newcastle and current United, not Liverpool, Woolwich, City, Bayern, Real etc. He would likely move to one of those clubs for no substantial payrise, but a club like Spurs has to sweeten the deal significantly to tempt a player AWAY from one of those clubs, especially if they're starting more often than not (just about).
That was pre Xabi Alonso though tbf, he's full wingbacks no wingers if his years in Germany are anything to go by along with who they've signed this summer.

I also think there's absolutely no chance Rodrygo comes here.

We can probably get the bid accepted.

But when his agent demands 350k a week, it'll go south pretty quickly after that.

He's currently on £200k a week-ish. 12.5m Euro per year / 52 weeks 240k euro = £208k
We just cut £200k a week from the wage bill.
If nobody else is willing to give Rodrygo £350k a week his choice is sit on the bench at Real and miss out on next years world cup. Or take less of a payrise and come to Spurs.

Probably difficult choice to be fair.

Aye, I like unpredictable. Risk taking.

Only problem is that the rest of the team probably would prefer him to be predictable, so they can take up the correct positions themselves.

Overall though, I’m leaning towards “fuck it, just do it”.

I reckon player like a bit of chaos on the pitch in their side. You don't always need to run in to an exact spot, you just need to think "he's getting the ball into the box, I should be there too"
There will be rebounds, stray balls and many times, perfect passes.

Could be our new Gazza.

Could be our next Tanguy.

Fuck it, roll the dice.

On loan is no biggie. Committing tens of millions and £200+ a week for 5 years is a risk.

My biggest point is that people on this forum tend to always underrate our own players and overrate players for other clubs.

Yes, other factors are at play - but we're talking about clubs that play the same 18 other teams 36 times in a season. Its hard to rationalize that the team that scored 18 fewer goals has better attacking players.

Kudus is enough for me, I really don't want another of their caravan mob stinking up the joint.
18 X 36 = 648 game season

Thinking Think GIF by Rodney Dangerfield

We had a small window from 2018-19 where we would have been able to sign a player of Rodrygo’s status. The club wasted all that and now we are back in a 2015ish situation

This is true

But when his agent demands 350k a week, it'll go south pretty quickly after that.

His wages are approx the same as Son’s. That’s part of his beef with Real because he wants a new contract to match the other stars and they won’t give it.

Thing is, he will want a salary upgrade from us that would make him our best paid player ever and also dictate what Romero and our other players ask for in new contract negotiations.

And the last time Levy brought a new player in on the same wages as our top earners was Ndombele and we’ve never done that since.

I doubt we are even considering Rodrygo tbh, let alone bidding. Real just want to raise some funds by selling him.

I’ve no clue. Are they?

Even if they are, selling a player to a Saudi club isn’t, own it’s own, proof of dodgy dealings.

If you sell an outright flop for great money, that’s dodgy.

It’s not proof but it’s obviously as dodgy as the money Chelsea get for their flops. This isn’t football club business these clubs are doing, it’s something very different and FSG are clearly balls deep in it.

It's very Spurs to build a stadium when we should of been winning a league.

We're back in 2015 but with more money TBF due to the stadium.
Tbf long term the stadium was needed to stay competitive. The club just didn’t anticipate the Pochettino team becoming as competitive as it did, so wasn’t in a position to match expectations, and then the pressure began to build.

Postecoglou, for all his flaws, couldn’t have timed the Europa success any better. Hopefully it’s given us all a bit of breathing room and we can make logical correct decisions again.

We were going to sign a a creative midfielder when Maddison was fit so it's almost certain we will bring one in. Hopefully it's not Grealish on loan though.
Let’s hope not because Grealish is not a creative midfielder. He used to a ball carrier but now he is just a castrated shell of what he was at Villa.

Not sure if is him or Pep to blame but a shadow of what he was.

If Palhinha is a punt Grealish is a PUNT!!!!!
