I've got nothing
Indeed.
I literally have no idea what fence you're on.
And there it is. You think there are "sides," and one must be one one or the other, so you spend your time sniping at those you perceive to be on the opposite side to you.

There are two different opinions on here, the irony is that both sides actually have good points, you're just not prepared to accept that.

When I say you're, I'm referring to both btw.

I'm not in either camp. I can see the good that our ownership have done for the club over the years, but I can also see where they are holding us back. The difference is that I choose not to bleat about it every single day.

We have no idea how this coming season is going to pan out for us, none of us, so all the sniping, insulting and outright unpleasantness on here is nothing more than people using the situation as an excuse to take bites out of each other. Your "Super fans" dig is a prime example of that.

FWIW, I think the window has been absolutely shite up to now, but the window isn't closed yet, so how about reserving judgement until it is? As far as I can see, that's pretty much all that is being said by those you perceive as the "opposition."

If we don't do anything significant between now and the end, I'm pretty sure that we ALL will be mightily pissed off with the club for what will be an abject failure.

I'm sure it's an oversimplification, but it feels like there's a curve that goes from "17 year old starlet who has just touched senior football available for 15M" to "19 year old with one season of big moments and promise available for 45M" to "21 year old who has established as a top-quality performer available for 80M" and it's the middle one that's by far the worst asset class.

5 of category 1 or 1 of category 3 leaves you in a much better place than 2 of category 2.

Put in more comprehensible English: that's just too much money for what Tyler Dibling has shown.

Thing is he doesn't stand to prove anything in champo that he didn't hint at in the prem already.

He'll be down to the last year of his contract next summer. He'll be 20..... And be closer to cat 1 than cat 2 or 3.

The window will still be pretty poor because we've gone through another preseason, with a new manager, were players, of signed now are just getting thrown in, with no familiarity of tactics how we play. Same crap every year

I agree, ownership have done great things. The infrastructure of the club is world class, revenue rolling in (not that we see tangible benefits). But this ownership has taken the club as far as they can, and are hurting it by keeping it hostage for a billion extra than it's obviously worth. With ENIC checked out years ago under Lewis, Levy doesn't have anything like the financial wealth to run a football club of this caliber and will never take risks that jeopardize (in his head) that.

This whole sustainable nonsense, he's been talking about for at least 10 years, and according to him, any day now, the rules will be tightened and we'll be able to compete with the world's best.
That day hasn't come, there doesn't seem to be a day that it does come, and as long as we keep treading water like we have been, the more others are catching up and passing us by. To be where we are from our team around 17/18 is borderline criminal. We had the chance to be a truly top side, and because maintaining that sort of standard would be too expensive, we fell off, massively.

So, thanks Daniel for the good, but don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Oh from Southampton's perspective I agree with you, just sell up and move on with your life.

Because while Dibling COULD really blow up in the Championship, how much higher could his value possibly get playing down there? 60M at the absolute most?

The countervailing thing of course is the value of his performance pushing them to promotion. I didn't really see him as the finished article yet but maybe in that league he could really make the difference.

The jury is out on Solanke, we were dreadful last year, our main wide players were Sonny and Brennan, neither gave him much service so let’s see what happens s under Frank.
I would like another striker as an option but I do quite like Solanke. He’s not really eye catching but he can hold it up really well, works hard and he’s a okay finisher. He struggled back end of the season probably more because we were dreadful in possession and going forward as a unit. First half of the season he was really good though and pressed very effectively when it was done as a collective.
