It's going to happen whether you like it or not. The benchmark, according to Levy himself, is winning the league and CL. So when results inevitably go absolutely nothing like that, the boos start, pundits and press weigh in and a dark cloud hovers.

I don't care who the manager is, as long as they don't get backed, like Frank, the frustration with what's happening at the club is going to be exacerbated by poor performances, and no doubt a loud minority will blame Frank, and Levy has set this up with his ridiculous statement that is looking more outrageous by the day. No manager is set up for success here and Frank will likely be a victim of that.

It's the same cycle over and over again, changing the manager won't do anything, but Levy will sack whoever it is to deflect blame.

I'm beyond fed up of it. Pep wouldn't last two years here at this rate either. I feel bad for the guy and the season hasn't even started. Get settled in ladies and gentlemen, it's going to be a long season.
No manager can win here. Its not possible. Frank will be another victim and it'll feel just like Nuno all over again. Can already hear the loud boos when we find ourselves parking the bus at home and being 2-0 down

I think he’s a better manager than Nuno but it’s hard not to see the parallels

Previous manager sacked and clear holes in the squad, basically zero technical quality in the side and very little threat. No signings of note made for new manager. Levy is clearly setting him up to fail in the exact same way Nuno was set up to fail.
The similarity with Nuno (who is a good coach in his own right) comes primarily down to a low-key personality and low-key tactical ideas that won't be seen as taking powerful charge of the situation during the difficult times that will inevitably come.

Spurs are a circus. We always have been and we probably always will be. A Tottenham manager needs to command center stage in that circus, in the ground, with the media, with the players, etc.

Conte openly hated being here, Ange was in over his head tactically, but those are guys who could command a room. 'Arry, Jose, Poch, Jol, AVB, not all exactly the same, but all with a force of personality.

Frank is different. He's going to need his team and his football to seize the narrative for him. If that doesn't happen, and due to lack of investment maybe it CAN'T happen, there just isn't that strong tether to hold him in the job.

That has been my worry with this appointment from day 1.

The benchmark this season really isn't winning the league. Levy clearly stated that in the Neville interview...
He clearly stated that in that weird interview he did with Vinai.

What he said to Neville is him backtracking. If you want to let that weasel go back on one of the main reasons, according to himself that they sacked the last manager, that's fine. But I won't forget it. Not will the large majority of fans.

Crikey this must be a new low, questioning the manager before he’s even managed his first competitive game. He hasn’t been a dumpster fire, he isn’t all out defence or anything of the sort. He’s got no Kulu, no Maddison, no Son, no Solanke… and a chairman who hasn’t backed him properly and has left him well short, especially in attack and creativity. Can we at least give the bloke the chance to manage some actual competitive games before we start with the Nuno bollocks.

:frankfacepalm:

What a nice man. Fucking shame he’s ended up working for a bunch of cunts who have thrown him under the bus and reversed over him with great speed. A fair amount of waffle in his words, but that’s all they have when your squad is so piss weak that game on game on game you have two keepers on the bench because you don’t have enough players. Still Gil might be fit for next Wednesday
