Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This transfer window. Trying to understand whether were trying to be clever and wait till all the big guns do their business. Or were hitting brick walls and getting desperate. Tbh i still expect chelsea to hijack a player from us like they normally do flagrantly. Still think its shit though were way short going into super cup.

Went to kaiserlautern in 99. Went on coach convoy from whl to kaisterlautern. Great laugh. Sadly we got knocked out but still enjoyable trip.
I was there... left Ginola on the bench, Steve Carr own goal. We went over on ferry and drove down to Metz... then shot across the border on the day of the game. We got in on the turnstiles for less than a fiver... They’ve revamped the stadium. It looks impressive now. Was a bit of dive in 99.

I just totally disagree.

We need a player who can come in and run a game for us. Someone who can pick all the passes, be the main man in the middle the way Madders was, set everyone else up.

McAtee isn’t that.

And if you aren’t that, OK, what can you do out of possession? McAtee is a 22 year old child (seriously, he looks deformed, like he stopped growing three years too early) with zero pace and he won’t be able to press at all. Transitions with him will be laughable.

No. Unless you’re good enough to actually run a game and dictate play with the ball to useful results, you can’t be as useless out of possession as he is.
Half way through I thought I was agreeing with you…, but then when you said Mcatee plays like a child and he can’t press - you lost me there. Shows me you haven’t really watched him at all…

He did ran Sheffield in championship at 19 helping them for promotion scoring 9 goals in 37 games

McAtee is not actually good at football though
We need experience, not more kids.

I just don't get people who thinks we can replace our one and only playmaker, with a kid!?

And us being short of personnel in key positions as usual, is almost criminal. Now it's AMC, LB, and DMC. The same story over and over again.

Fair play. Loads of tottenham were there. Remember iversen had a great chance 2nd half to put us 1 nil up and 2 nil on aggregate. We fucked up near the end. Not a bad ground when i went and struck me how clean germany was. Enjoyed the trip though.

I think you're right... it was so long ago. I just seem to remember we defended like mad men and they levelled up the tie late on... and before I finished thinking ok, we can do this in extra time, Carr put through his own net. Good times when playing in Europe was so rare for us.

Re: #10 I think they -mistakenly- believe that;

1) Maddison and Kulusevski are/were good enough when both are/were healthy.
2) Maddison in particular will have no problem recovering to his pre-injury level.

I don't agree with either, but if Levy and co actually think along those lines then the reinforcement they'll bring this summer won't be anything more than a stopgap player or a punt.

Sheffield fans notably said he was a complete passenger without the ball and called him a “luxury player”

The absolute LAST thing we need to add to a Thomas Frank is a luxury player who doesn’t have the quality Maddison did to truly run games. I’d genuinely rather pay £20m for El Khannouss because at least he has shown the potential of being a real midfielder who can actually run a game.

Either be able to run a game or be able to run all game. Simple as

The day after we beat Woolwich, was the day to slap down £60m on fast payment terms like we did for MGW. Now coming into the week before the season starts less and less teams will accept a crown jewel being sold.

That’s what grates me most about this “wait until the end of the window before getting upset” tripe. New Manager would desperately want the main money spent at least 2weeks before season starts, to plan, condition, integrate, bond.

But, no, that’s seemingly unvalued here, clearly instead feeling waiting creates better value and wages saved, when I suspect mostly nowadays, clubs want more nearer window closure or just won’t deal at all.

Bet Frank is disgusted in the support he’s been given to this point, privately.
If Frank is surprised then he's an idiot.
