Match Super Cup Final - Spurs vs PSG, Weds 13th Aug, 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well apologies.

I see now that I shouldn't get excited over a hobby that takes up a fuck ton of my time and for the last few years, bar one glorious moment, has been an absolute joy drainer of a ball ache.

No-one is saying we're winning the quadruple. We're enjoying the aftermath of a 75min performance where we went toe to toe with 'the best team in the world' and were winning.

We see enough shit as Spurs fans - I'm on my 46th year of it - some of us look for the positives when we see them.

Yes PSG weren't smack at it.
Yes it's a glorified friendly.

But it was fun. And enjoyable. Not words regularly associated with Spurs over the past few years.

Fuck it...WE ARE WINNING THE QUADRUPLE!

ALL ABOARD THE FRANK TRAIN!

I enjoyed the game, the performance and the promise of Franks tactical ideas.

Just very level headed about what this season will probably be like.

I agree, it was baffling bringing Tel on instead of him or even Odobert.

There was a lot Frank got right about the game tonight, but the loss probably falls on his shoulders.

Solanke was clearly unfit, although Richi looked gassed so I accept he couldn't have done much else there.

Bissouma would have also been a useful option to have on the bench though and he should have brought on Bergvall before Gray (or even left Palinha on for longer).

Ultimately he's also responsible for the players dropping back as much as they did too.

Early days mind, so hopefully he learns from his mistakes.
Early blame on a manager barely here 2 months against champions league winner beaten on penos after bringing on our main striker and a signing here since jan. Calling for bissouma is fucking laughable

No - what makes you a "nasty piece of shit" is you behaving like a nasty piece of shit.

For example - you pretending that Kudus playing a simple ball to the outside so Richy can run onto for it a speculative 25 yard shot is a "key pass" - while ignoring all the ballooned crosses that sailed over our box throughout the game.

The difference between you and I is that I can accept this is a known deficiency in his game and hope and support him to get better at it - while YOU would be on here calling BJ a useless cunt for the exact same ballooned cross.

But because you've hung your standard to Kudus you take any imagined slight against him and pretend people are calling for him not to start over BJ. This is nonsense. Normal fans just realise we need goals/assists from our attackers.

Similarly you're so addicted to your Ange Out Cult that you are fighting a fight normal people have moved on from months ago. Normal fans recognise that Frank WON us this game with his tactics then LOST this game with his subs. If beating Burnley is more important than this trophy then fine - subs needed to be made. Normal people can make that distinction.

Nasty pieces of shit like you would be hanging Ange from the nearest tree if he'd made those subs and lost that game. AND YOU KNOW IT.

I am a Tottenham supporter. You are a hater. Hate is in your soul. It's fucking depressing. Get help.
Are you? A Tottenham supporter??

Yes they were and that's the real problem , we don't have a deep enough squad so tbh I would rather have a half knackered Richy / Kudus than a fresh Tel or a.nother. The pressure was starting to build slightly before the subs but it got a lot worse after those subs. Would it have anyway , regardless of the subs ? I don't think so as we couldn't get out at all or even buy a cheap free kick which both kudus and Richy can do.
Also , Paulina should have stayed on. It must be the first time he's reached 70 minutes without getting a card !
None of us are in a position properly to analyse substitutions, especially with the benefit of hindsight. You may be right, but I dont know. And what I'm about to say is just guesswork...

At this stage in pre-season the fitness and match sharpness is being built up. Overplaying those who are not yet fully fit risks injury. Some are ahead of others. I imagine the coaching team are using expert eyes and crunching data between and during matches in order to make these crucial decisions.

And it's not only an issue of avoiding injury but ensuring that a good starting line-up can be fielded for a game on Saturday.

Then there are judgement calls and fine margins. If Palhinha, for example, had stayed on and suffered an injury, or, due to a tired swipe at the ball, sliced it into his own net... then people could well be calling out Frank for not making the sub.

In any case, I think (I guess) it's about reducing injury risk and thinking ahead to Saturday.

One would think this is a trophy match (no matter how big or small it is) and Saturday is the very first match of a long season against Burnley. Maybe prioritize this and keep Palhinha and Kudus for the full match and use them as subs on Saturday (if needed).
Extremely rare chance of winning this trophy. I agree should’ve gone all out. Especially Paulinha just leave him on to ball win on edge of area

Richy forced a good save in the 1st half.

Yeah but the XG on it pretty low. Don't get me wrong - thought Richy was excellent but neither he nor Solanke are putting numbers up unless we find a way to provide better chances.

With the injuries we have that can probably only be solved by the transfer market. Frank will sort us out defensively but needs help offensively imo.

Dude we are all emotional but these are kids…….. give them time, we have seen glimpses of their talent so far. Problem is we are relying on them
Dude this was do or die!

I've never seen a Super Cup final before...I've seen them all but this...

RECRUITMENT!!! it comes down to that!

Fukk time what are we Woolwich???? nah fukk that!!!

I'm proud of my team - we need signings...

XG doesn't convince me too much tbh.

Fair.... Pretty much echos my sentiment in the Bunnly thread.

We won the final we needed too. This is just nothing pre season friendly. Glorified charity shield. They have barely played no more than a week. They weren’t anywhere near match fit. Gave a good account of ourselves though. This ain’t worth losing any sleep of over. I’ll be more fucked off if we lose Saturday
Strange. A title we’re unlikely to play for again, maybe once or twice in a lifetime if lucky. Why is the pl holder against fa cup winner more important than cl v Europa?

One premier league game out of 38 is more important. Play all the youngsters in the cups so we can concentrate on 5th in the league👍

Gray was poor too, maybe the subs were just poorly prepared or not the right fit to enter a game like it.

2 kids and a half fit solanke. In retrospect youd have wanted bissouma to be one of them
Yes and did the same. Chase shadows and try to help defensively (poorly). So many mams defending their blue eyed boy it’s hilarious. All the subs were shit. The only one getting desperately defended is unsurprisingly bergval. They were all ineffective. on for 5 or 15 mins.
Getting 15-20 minutes at 2-0 and comfortable gives you more time to do something positive and more time to be ineffective and a liability which Tel was. The final 5 frenetic minutes with about 6 PSG attackers on the pitch is hardly enough time for a player to make an impression. You've got an agenda and it's total crap.
We didn't let them play and settle from the off.

That was down to us.

They had enough fitness and energy in them to pin us down in the second half and get back in the game.

So there goes your premise.

There's no getting "fooled" by anything.

Dunno wtf you're rambling on about.

Frank has had us only a few weeks and we dominated most of that game.

Get teh fuck.
He's talking shit.
They had about two weeks off, then a full week of training. Ange gave some of our key players that amount of time off and they still performed to a high level for 90 minutes to help us win the Europa league.
Dembele got better as the game went on. He wasn't lagging at all.
Those PSG players are super fit and battle hardened. We stifled them superbly for 60-70 minutes and it was us that run out of legs but unlike them , we didn't have a bench of quality to bring on.
