I was telling my son last night about the time we were leading Man U 3-0 at half time, and lost 5-3. When your own team does that to you, then you know it's rarely 'in the bag' until the ref blows for full time. I'm sure plenty of people put a bet on PSG to win the tie overall when Spurs were 2-0 up. Spurs, more than any other team I know, are consistent at giving up great positions.

Right, my morning after positive take is this:
It was a "no win" match...
If we'd won, it's a 'meaningless, glorified friendly' against a half fit, still on the beach PSG that weren't ready for it, no big deal...
but as we lost, it's Spursy Spurs bottlers lose to a half fit, still on the beach PSG, and it's a CATASTROPHIC DISASTER on a scale like never before....
We were NEVER gonna win, even if we'd won!
PLUS, for all the actual "meaningless" friendlies we've played down the years with no real matchday tension, jeopardy or significance attached to it, we CERTAINLY got a test last night....
Plus pens!
We will CERTAINLY learn from it, but only if we take on board all the experience gained!
Stay positive people, we just pushed the GREATEST TEAM IN THE WORLD: BETTER THAN PEAK BRAZIL 1970, AND WITH THE WEALTH RESOURCES OF AN ENTIRE NATION BEHIND THEM all the way to penalties!
It was a VERY narrow loss, pretty much as close as it gets! Just keep that in mind!
But it's the end of the whole Europa League journey & adventure.

the performance last night was immeasurably better than the 1-0 in the final. Against an immeasurably better team too.
Created more chances, forced the keeper into decent saves, hit the woodwork, didnt have to rely on an oggie with our one chance.
Winning the final was great to get a trophy at long last. But there was pretty much nothing from that performance against the 6th worst team in the PL to take into the next game.
Playing to our strengths? Its not what we do mate.
Practising set pieces? That's for wusses. Mate.
Totally disagree... so many things go away from winning that game
1. Frank has a trophy - he's won something - he can't be labelled a manager who never wins. Doesn't matter who the opponent is or whether there is only 2 teams competing. It's a proper trophy.
2. No reincarnation of Spursy. The Europa League win buried it but here we are a few months later and we are Spursy, again.
3. You get a huge lift going into Burnley game... looking at the players last night, Frank has to find a way to lift them or I fear we will have a very average performance on Saturday.
For the record, PSG are not the greatest team in the world and nowhere near Brazil 82 let alone Brazil 70. They got battered by the Chavs a few weeks ago. They will not win the CL this season.
I would expect that if Frank doesnt bring him along, then he feels that the damage to the squad and their unity and morale outweighs that.
Maybe that's the point....
Bissouma has let the ENTIRE CLUB down, not just himself...
Then again it does seem harsh to ban a player for being late, when you consider Thomas Partey got to play for an entire season for not taking "No" for an answer!
The thing is as a manager you may really feel like doing what Frank did but I just think you have to square that for the good of the team.
I can't think of the right phrase, it's not quite shot himself in the foot, or cut off his nose to spite his face.
What if Richarlison and Solanke were both late, would he have selected a team without a proper CF?
I suspect there's a way in the club's disciplinary procedure to fine players for being late.

For what it's worth, I think Ange deserved this game, and may well have won it.
However if that happened he'd have got at least the first five or six games of the season, and there's nothing to suggest he'd have won all or even some of those.
So Spurs could have had the Super League in the bag, and been back in the hunt for a new manager in a few weeks

Yesterday really hurts. If we can continue to make progress - and I think we will - then nights like this will make us stronger and more resolute.
A fully fit Dom and a ball player would have helped to release the tension more.

As for how Woolwich handled Partey, thats their problem and how they handled that was disgusting.
What part of anything we saw last season would suggest having Ange about would have resulted the super cup "being in the bag"? That's highly presumptuous given PSG are one of the very best in the world right now.
He won the Europa League and I'm forever grateful but PSG are night and day from any club we faced in that cup run last season. They won the CL final 5-0 FFS, they're absolutely terrifying when on song.
The lack of appreciation that we had gotten ourselves in a position to win and ended up not losing against one of the top 2 clubs in the world, is shocking tbh.
You have to try hard not to see that game as a huge bunch of positives.
Especially with the bench we had.

Exactly. I am filled with so much positivity now. Yeah I was gutted last night and when I first woke up this morning. But if last night's football and performances was a sign of things to come, bring it on.
Yeah, all the rival fans will have a giggle at our expense right now, Fuck em. Spurs are back. No more pathetic naive football getting our arses handed to us every week under Ange.
We are back to being a serious team again, and I look forward to laughing in their faces when we hand them their arses this season.
What’s more important is setting clear expectations of professionalism and sticking to them. Especially when you have a squad full of youngsters. They need to understand that you come to this club to work hard, not to coast.
The one who made a wrong decision was Bissouma, nobody else.
