Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Everton were desperate to sell Richi because of horrendous overspending and needed cash. Ditto Forest with Johnson and West Ham with Kudus. Bissouma had a legal case hanging over him and nobody else was interested. Solanke is the only one where there were no extenuating circumstances for Levy to prey on.

Also taken in the round, Levy spent almost £300m on those 5 players. Do you think the other big clubs would have got more quality for that money? Are his ways of working really delivering value for money?

Right, there are reasons..... but lets be very very clear about what was being said.... by you

His priority is never to get the player signed. His priority is to win the deal, that’s why he drags out negotiations, offers players in part exchange, haggles over bonus clauses, lowballs etc.

Just be consistent - we CLEARLY didn't haggle endlessly for the players I brought up, and 90% of people on here feel like we OVERPAID for them.

I can, if you would like, go through other teams wasted transfers if you want - if it would make you feel better and prove that you are completely Spurs-focused.

So let's do it, though im sure you will come back to me with another reason why I'm wrong, even if it completely contradicts previous things that have been said.

Liverpool & City probably waste the least money on transfers - City ---- obvious reasons --- Liverpool is a model I would love to be able to replicate - but the rest -

Woolwich - Haavertz, Jesus, Fabio Viera, Pepe - Gokyeres remains to be seen, but he is more of a risk than Solanke

Liverpool - Nunez, Konate (I do not rate this guy for 40m)

Man United - I mean - you surely don't need me to list here....

Chelsea - same as United - come on bro....

City have been in control of savinhos career for a while now the fee going up constantly, with plenty of clubs in the city group making a profit, in turn helping each club out with psr
Now it’s time for them to cash in there chips to the highest bid ( mugs )
He hasn’t shown enough for them
Buy cheap, sell high , without him actually doing much
Where as we tend to buy high, sell cheap
Not really a cunning plan

Some on here are STILL defending Levy and ENIC and this shambles of a window?!

Really?!

Must be fucking Gooners or just trolling for shits and giggles.

We've been embarrassed TWICE in this window, by fucking Forest and Palace. We're still desperately short of quality in attack and any club we approach will know this and make us pay.

We overpay because he has made himself /us so horrendous to deal with.

Same idiots who want “Donley” as first choice no10

All very sad as we are on the cusp of something very good under Frank

Listen the the VFTL pod, James Maw and Danny Kelly summed it up perfectly, he’s a terrible negotiator who can’t sign big players in their primes. He never has, no matter what position the team has been in with respect to competing for Major honors and he never will.

As long as Levy has any involvement in this football club, we aren’t winning the PL nor the CL that he claims to covet.

And every time he fails, like this summer, it’s the fans who still pick up the tab and take all the flack.

He can win if he starts paying proper wages and stops nickel and diming his way out of good deals

We pay decent money. To say we don't is a fallacy, created in the minds of those who live in an anti-Levy world.

We beed to pay maybe more for the highest quality but players, like standard workers need to deserve their excessive wages.

What we need more than anything is to target the right players at the right time.

The likes of Eze, Isak, Bowen to an extent, to name but 3, we'e hardly bust the bank purchases when bought initially.

It's a mixture.

Personally, I don't really care when deals are made for peripheral players, Levy has failed to realise for several years the damage his hard on for coming out top dog on the negotiation table has on our preseason preparations.

I'll personally wait to applaud him until we begin the season with a proper strike force for the first time in three or four years.
Lol, this was my opinion 13 years ago, and nothing has changed. God damn I feel old.

Well duh.

But sometimes you can’t tell who the next Eze and Isak will be (by the way… Isak was expensive even when Newcastle bought him)

So sometimes you need to pay a lot for an established star.

Everyone please for the love of God avoid reading too much into Fabrizio Romano's waffle tweets.

You will see a lot of;

"They call to be informed of his situation

"They continue to insist on"

"There are internal discussions"

"Very difficult move"

"Tottenham remain interested in"

"Tottenham are still in for..... situation is still not closed"

While he's obviously reliable all his posts are highly monetized and transfer season is his Christmas so word salad is on the menu.

He’s not obviously reliable though. His reputation is way better than his reality.

Him and Ornstein have pied piper’d the fuck out of Spurs fans this summer. I’ve blocked both and still can’t escape their fucking faces.

They'll defend anything at this point

In love with being contrarians

We don’t pay wages that sign top players. Everytime we’ve tried, we have mysteriously failed and ended up with a player on a lower wage.

This is a great listen. They said we haven't signed a player in his prime since Klinsmann.
