Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

how would you sell someone on Paz btw? Is there a singular match to watch that signals “he’s a star”? I would love for him to be the answer, I just don’t watch enough Serie A.
You have to watch full games rather than YouTube snippets, because anyone can look good there. He's very composed, great at getting out of tight spots, like Modric was, little turn and the press is beat and play opens up. Gets about physically, very well too so he's adept at either 10 or 8.

Honestly, if I'd have thought he'd be available he'd be my first choice, but I don't see Real letting him go sadly. I know he belongs to Como, but they can buy him back for the next two years for like €10m, and DiMarzio said like a week ago that they want him back at Real. Since they get 50% of the fee, they're probably dictating to Como what to sell for, and I could see them insisting on a buy back too.

Would be great, I haven't seen too much of the Monaco kid, but this guy has it.

I think Real actually do need money. Florentino and co are kept up at night by the Prem’s finances. Even with them and Barca basically stealing all of the La Liga TV deal money, they still can’t compete financially. The days of ‘he’ll mature into a star with you and then come to us’ are quietly going.

Notice how they’ve started picking up a lot more free transfers where they tapped up an elite Prem player who was running his deal down in recent years (Rudiger, TAA would’ve been free if not for the CWC, Konate is pending). Look at how they’ve never totally dropped the Super League stuff that will cement their position in the football world.

They need the money.
Dude, Real cleared €1bn in revenue last year. They're absolutely fine financially. There was a few years ago that wasn't the case, but their spending isn't big anymore.

They're targeting frees because they know they have the Real tag as leverage and they can spend bog of they decide they have to.

Of course they’re fine financially. But it’s not like it used to be and Florentino and co know it. They have money for a Bellingham type transfer once every other summer or so. The elite Prem clubs that they’re competing with for the CL can do it multiple times a summer if they so wanted to.

They’ve pivoted to frees because almost all Prem clubs these days can just say ‘sorry, no thanks.’ PSG had to spend €70m on Zabarnyi from Bournemouth for example.

"We tried to buy a player in the summer and in the end a promoted side from the Premier League was able to pay more money and a higher salary than us, a top four side in Germany. The Premier League has so much more money and resources than any other country. This is not good for us. Definitely not.” - Fernando Carro, Leverkusen’s CEO back in 2021. I bet Florentino, along with every football exec across Europe felt like this then, and feels it 10x more today.

It never ceases to amaze me how you lot get so angry and despondent about things that you can neither influence or change. The speculation, guesswork, fantasy and wishful thinking is like wildfire on here and you all seem to take some perverse delight in fanning the flames, finding targets and scapegoats, and victims to pour your hatred on to.

Spend your time enjoying the things you can do, the pleasure you can bring into other peoples lives and the help you can give to the people you know and care for - but most of all the people you just met .

Football is just a sport, it really isn't reason to validate your existence.

Like every season since 1967, I'm starting this season in the clear belief that we will the league, a domestic cup and/or a European cup.

I just support Spurs.

Win or lose.

With all due respect, Bayer Leverkusen aren't Real Madrid. Real Madrid topped the latest rich list, have something like €12m debt and €600m equity.

They are a more self sustainable club than we are. They could go out and spend €4/500m if they wanted to. They don't want to overpay for players because their new model of getting in free transfers is pretty brilliant. Tell a player 18 months before their contract expires that they'll bring them in. Very few players are saying no. They have nothing to worry about financially. They are the furthest club to be worried about finances.

"I always have the next player ready to go" Johan Lange Feb 2025.

We are always prepared and we have a strategy in place for all transfer windows. We evaluate players well in advance.

Scouting department?

This fella is just taking the piss.

If the board didn't promise the world, we wouldn't expect anything. But we hear promise after promise about how we're going to compete with the best, and that hasn't proven to be the case.

The club have the means to be more ambitious than they are. Our custodians are doing a bad job, and the club is bigger than it's ownership group. They need to be held accountable.

Did you start supporting the club last week?
The people who run the club are running it as a business entity, and are doing a really good job of doing so.

You judge them on their efficiency at running a football team, and that is not what they are about, because if it was, most of them would be sacked - Levy first.

As soon as you can get your head around that fact, the sooner you will come to terms with who we are as a football team

With Savinho, I fear we need to get it done before kick off or it doesn’t go ahead:
We win/perform well, City more reluctant to sell out of both pride and potential fear that we’re not the joke team we were last year.
We lose/get embarrassed then Savinho looks at it and thinks again about joining a bin fire!
